How to be Evil.

Post » Thu Mar 04, 2010 2:42 am

While lurking, many-a-time I have noticed fellow forum-ers discussing the apparent difficulty of being a jerk. At first I thought it would be difficult too, but its quite enjoyable, now that I have gotten further. So, I decided to put together a short few tips on how to spice up your post-apocalyptic life. Being bad is fun! :D

Heres some of the stuff I did. Hopefully you will find them as an... inspiration...

1. Take over Goodsprings. I stripped all the bodies of their clothing and stuffed them in the back of a pickup truck. Yeah, dastardly eh?

2. Equip Hockey Mask, Wasteland Settler Outfit, and a Machete. Blood-curdling screams are allowable, for added effect.

3. Help out the Powder Gangers at NCRCF. When the NCR comes, friggin' bolt.

4. In Primm, do not rescue Deputy Beagle from captivity. Instead, pickpocket his Journal and leave him tied up and/or decapitate with your trusty machete.

5. Every now and then, when the mood strikes, murder an innocent (preferably one who is alone, along a desolate road far from civilization) and hack his/her body to pieces (literally) with your machete. Leave him/her there, in the middle of the road, as a warning message to all travelers. Show the Mojave that you OWN this place!

6. Betray, betray, betray. There is a reason traitors go to the 9th Circle! Use other wastelanders to your advantage, gain their trust, and then betray them and reap the maximum possible reward! For example, I helped the NCR literally until the very end of the game, and then I took Vegas for myself! Brutus and Cassius took notes!

7. This may be rather obvious to some, but I decided to include it: In Novac, trick Boone into killing an innocent for his quest (the name eludes me). Yay! Evil!

8. Crucify Benny! Muahaha.

9. The Cannibalism perk always helps. Try eating members of the White Glove Society! Yay, irony!

10. If you get bored, target an NPC and stalk them. Follow them until you are alone, and then move in for the kill. This can open the game up to endless possibilities. You could be an assassin and your target is an influential political figure! Or maybe you are a bounty hunter, and whatever you find on your target's body is your pay for the contract. Get creative!

Feel free to add on. Hopefully this will help anyone whos struggling to find their place among the evil. As an added note, the trick to being evil is to really get into the mindset of an evil person. My favorite archetype is the anarchic, deranged serial killer, but that may not suit others' tastes. Regardless of your goals, if you roleplay it well, you will have bucketloads of fun. Good luck!

I tried this myself, but my role playing was quickly dashed by NCR rangers at, say, level 4. Now that's easily avoided by steering clear of the NCR (see your #3), but once you start making calculations on who not to irritate for fear of being overmatched, the magic's gone! The quest layout is also not favorable at all to psychopathy. Even Caesar gives you a couple of quests that force you to break character.

I was going to play the ol' "bullet in my head broke more than just my skull..." character, and engage in a revenge fantasy for all of those inane npc's that made me fetch their frigging slippers. Sadly, that attempt didn't last too long.

11. wait until at least level 10 before going on a rampage. the rangers will come after you and they will put more than a 9mm round between your eyes.

There is a difference between being evil and being psychotic. Real evil is subtle. If you want to roleplay evil, figure out how to screw everyone without them knowing it until too late.

I fancy myself Attilla the Hun.

Every town I go into, I kill everyone, and pile their bodies in the middle. So far, I have done this with Primm, Goodsprings, West side, North Vegas, and Nipton.

Soon to come are:

Freeside(Damn kings called my Horse a mole rat), Mccarren, Cootonwood, every single ranger outpost, Hoover dam, All the vaults, All the NCR camps, and for the grand finale, I'm going to go into the strip, massacre every single person and securitron outside, do the same with the casinos and the embassy, then ride up to Lucky 38 and disconnect House's controls.

It's good to be King.

To be truly Evil killing everyone isn't an option. I prefer to play mild mannered until I meet a character I really hate and then I destroy them!

Also they aren't really enough rewards to play as truly evil and a lot of quests get locked out for you so my evil scientist "dike Bastardly" has to find truly creative ways to be Evil.

There's Clever Evil and Stupid Evil, but they're both still Evil. A pyscho killer may be insane but his actions are still evil.

It's a shame that sneak attacks are so overpowered in their effect on the AI in this game, they make the silent slaughter of entire battalions of veteran Rangers a doddle. I went to Camp Golf and punched Hanlon off his balcony, and his corpse landed on top of a couple of chatting Rangers below, who found nothing odd at all about this turn of events.

Well, only when you're strong enough to deal with the reprisals. It's hard going until level 15+, believe me...

I have yet to go full evil, as in no good factional standing, (my karma says I'm evil but that is just from theft) but that got to be challenging.

Limited vendors and lots of unfriendly area could make a true survival experience.

My RP isnt evil, but after being tricked into destroying Goodsprings by Powder Gangers he went off the deep end and started abusing alcohol and Jet. Jet led to Buffout and now when he is coming down off a high he goes into a rage and does evil things. However his new friend Veronica is helping him manage this problem.

How does one get tricked into destroying Goodsprings? When you talk to Cobb, he's like, you want to help us? Why? He doesn't even try to get you on his side.

Thats the beauty of it, though! Like I said in my post, there are a myriad of different ways to be Evil, and it is only dependent on personal preference. Whether you are the cunning evil or the murderous evil, its all evil.

If you're chaotic, then slaughter anyone that can be more of a benefit dead...especially if they have items on them you would want. If you're loyal to a group like the legion or for a minor part, powder gangers, etc, then do quests that would benefit your standing with these groups, but don't indiscrimanately kill everything for sake of killing.

Ave, True to Caesar! Kill the NCR and kill Mr. House! Don't let those filthy dogs live. Serve the will of Caesar and carry out his orders to the letter. But remember you're also a powerful Legionary so if somebody comes up to you with an attitude, either blow their brains out or decapitate them! If you find any of your fellow dead Legionaries, take their armor so their sacrifice could allow you to better serve the will of Caesar.

Remember to equip your gun, machete, and above all, your legionary armor. True to Caesar!
