Room Upgrades in Lucky 38

Post » Sat Mar 06, 2010 3:47 am

Wondering how room upgrades work in the Lucky 38 Hotel. Mr. House hooked me up with my room. Victor takes up to check it out - and I open up the terminal outside the room.

I'm on the PC version and any time i hover the mouse over on the right hand side inventory to purchase upgrades it gets very glitchy and I can't select anything. If I go exit out and go back in I can sometimes manipulate the mouse selection to work but the selected item will be 3 items higher than the one my mouse is currently hovered over. I made two purchases - a fridge and something else I didn't see b/c the item wasn't highlighted. Took my caps but I didn't notice anything new in the room. Also didn't see a fridge in my inventory.

Just wondering how this is supposed to work. And if anyone else had a similar experience.

Yeah, I get something similar except I can get it to work by putting the mouse to the extreme right of the upgrade list.

I had the exact same problem. Putting your mouse near the right side of the list will allow you to select them.

Interesting, thanks - I'll try this next time.

So I'm assuming that after I purchase by selecting it on the far right edge, I should see an actual mini fridge sitting in the suite in the corner somewhere? Or garments for instance, should show up in the closets?

I've noticed that selling things to the machine seems to fix this problem, though I haven't tested it extensively.

Also, I bought the Master Wardrobe from it and I swear it doesn't show up anywhere in the suite. The only wardrobes there were, I'm almost positive, there to begin with.

I've had this issue as well, but with some very fiddly mouse movements ((and turning down the DPI on my mouse two clicks) I have reliable if twitchy access to the menu. Just keep trying and you should be okay.

The problem is caused by a computer screen (the initial log-in terminal) still active behind the barter menu. Both the computer screen and menu are fighting for control of the cursor. The barter menu works perfectly if you make sure your cursor when using the barter menu is outside the screen space of the computer behind it. This means the empty space just to the left of the item names on the left, and the prices on the items on the right. If you stay in these two areas with your cursor, browsing, selecting, and buying work perfectly.

An annoying oversight by the developers, but one easily worked around once you know the trick.

I got around it by just using the arrow keys. Simple enough, worked for me.

Not sure that I know what the barter menu is. So far everything related to barter that I've seen is either after turning an even level, I can upgrade the skill. Or in dialog option i.e. Barter 25/50. You're saying there's a whole barter screen that is supposed to pop up when interacting with the terminal? I'm only seeing the terminals inventory on the right hand side and my own on the left.

Any word on successful purchases from the terminal making its way into the room? I don't remember all the options right now, but I thought there were a few physical ones that I would expect to see actually sitting in the room somewhere after I buy. (Fridge is the only one I can recall right now, but I thought there were a few more).
