So I just got the game, and while similar to FO3, I've def noticed a few things that stick out that I really like. So here are my top 5.

1. Music, I love the music, not the radio stuff (though it is better than FO3 radio) but the background music.
2. Iron sights, use it all the time and I think this is a really popular one, Im so sick of 3rd person games and after beating Mafia 2, im glad I have this option.
3. Voice acting, its actually done pretty well! I like the voices and so far they dont seem repeating.
4. Factions. I just meet up with the Legion and I gotta say... though evil, they are pretty darn cool.
5. hardcoe mode. Though I havnt had to eat anything yet due to hunger, its better that its toned down than having to eat every hour, which can be a really pain in the butt. Im liking this little addition, as well as weight to ammo and non instant stim-packs.

My favorite thing is that they took everything that was cool about FO3... and then they took a heavy helping of FO2 and blended until smooth.

Sometimes playing FO3 I thought "wait... why is?" or "wait, where is?"

And they added all that back in New Vegas.


They added back in ammo types.

They added back in faction rep.

They added back in the six, drugs and (60s era) rock and roll.

They added back in the moral ambiguity. In fact that's my favorite part. The main chain is an exercise in moral ambiguity. My MAIN complaint with morality systems in most games of the last decade from Fable to KotOR 2 is that you can either be a saint or a puppy-kicking caricature of evil. In FONV you can be evil or good-ish but it's all shades of grey.

My favorite things would have to be(in order):

1) Boone with an Anti material sniper rifle. He can 2 shot a deathclaw. Nuff said.
2) 2 companions.2 associated perks.
3) Ammo types. Incendiary grenades FTW.
4) Guns. So many new guns.
5) The strip. Who doesn't like a little vegas in their rpg?
6) Boone. Did I mention Boone?
