Monocyte Breeder Implant

Post » Sun Mar 14, 2010 10:17 pm

Hi, I'm running through New Vegas, and managed to save up enough money for some implants. I only have enough Endurance to get 7 of the 9 Implants, and am not sure how useful the Regeneration implant is. Is it really worth the 12K caps to get? How effective is it?

I can't really say I noticed its effects, but given I had 70k in cash, I cant say I noticed the cost either.

Waste in my opinion. Used it on two different characters.

It regenerats 1 HP every 10 seconds so form your own opinions about it. Myself I have used it on my 2 characters so far so I'd rather have automatic healing but everyone has their own opinions :gun:

It is VERY slow but it does make you heal while waiting and sleeping.. If you have 7 out of the 9 if suggest skipping charisma unless its charisma based char and also skip the healing unless your percption is already 6 in which case skip perc and go ahead and get healing.

Monocyte Breeder is 100% useless and a complete waste of caps and an implant slot. It's not 1HP/sec. It's only 1HP every ten seconds and has absolutely no benefit during combat.

The Rad Child perk is 60-80 times more effective and can actually save your skin during a tough fight. If you stay at deadly or critical Rad Poisoning level, Rad Child provides +6HP/sec or +8HP/sec. Much more powerful than the monocyte breeder.

Worthless waste of an implant. It regenerates health so slowly I actually thought it was broken. Spend the money on something else.

Yes I purchased it, immediately sold all my 87 Stimpacks (don't need em' right, WRONG!) to recover some caps and now I'm waiting FOREVER to recover health....The autosave updated when I walked out and my last save was 45 min prior...I said eff it and just kept it.

I love the thing. I only play on hardcoe, so that implant saves me effort and supplies.

Finish a fight at half health? Don't have to burn up healing items, just go on about my business, I'll recover 'naturally' now, instead of being at 50% until I use up resources or spend caps at a doc. It's very, very, very useful if you're a stealther just because while stealthed you move slower. So longer time between fights, meaning more free healing. (Of course, as a stealther, you don't have to deal with damage often.)

Given how easy it is to get that kind of money, I consider it a great investment. If I want in-combat regen, I have stimpacks and superstims. I never expected it to turn me into a D&D troll.

It's not really useful on non-hardcoe. You can just find a bed and sleep for an hour on normal mode and the regen rate is too slow to be effective in combat. It's useful when using hardcoe mode though. You can regen while waiting and sleeping.

Don't bother with it. Hell, even the charisma implant is a better choice.

Thanks for the info, everyone. I do play on hardcoe, but I keep more than enough stuff handy, and even if I don't have anything handy, I can usually find it when needed. So a minor regen effect isn't that great, it just saves me a small amount of inventory room. I've decided not to go for it, so I'll be able to upgrade all stats outside of Charisma (which I've used as a dump stat, anyway: my character is not a charmer by any means).

I made a character with every healing power I could find (Rad Child, Monocyte Breeder, and Solar Powered). Rad Child I definitely noticed working; the others didn't really seem to matter. It can be nice on hardcoe if you are out of healing supplies and refuse to fast travel, though.
