A little old news

Let me say first that I do not want multiplayer if it would take anything away from singleplayer at all. And going off of bethesdas record I don't think we have to worry about that.

However, I remember reading this in January.

Now that you know there is an Elder Scrolls V coming out, would you support the MMO, or added multiplayer by this seperate team?

Either way, since this "MMO" was "Supposed" to have been announced months ago, I doubt we will have to wait long for news on anything multiplayer coming from Bethesda.

If it were done correctly (however that may be) I feel like I wouldn't mind it, but I have too hard of a time accepting that in my mind right now. No.

I would be fine with some co-op, but ONLY if the players could be in any part of the world they want, away from each other. Using Morrowind as an example, Me be in Balmora wile someone else is screwing around in Solstheim.

As far as Bethesda goes, that's about how I feel.

But if they really invested a few hundred million dollars into this new company(Speculation), then we are looking at a little more than co-op. However, I'm not a PC guy, so there is a good chance the MMO, or any multiplayer at all, won't pertain to me.

Everyone always frames this question as MMO vs Single Player. I've never heard about a 'small multiplayer' option. You know, games like the old Baldur's Gate Series, NWN, etc, had multiplayer where you could host your own 'server', have 3 or 4, maybe up to 7 of your friends join you, and have small-group multiplayer. I would like to see small-group multiplayer along with single player, in that tradition.

From a game-mechanics perspective, they'd have to re-tool how the game players, perhaps - TES games have, historically, absolutely depended upon the player pausing gameplay in the middle of a battle to, e.g. switch weapons, recharge an enchanted item, drink a potion, select a spell, etc.

I've always thought TES would be a great setting for 2 or 3 of my friends to join me. I don't want *Massively Multiplayer* Elder Scrolls - but, if other people do wan't an MMO Elder Scrolls, why *shouldn't* Zenimax publish it? The only reason I wouldn't want to see an MMO version of TES is if it caused the main series to be discontinued (or suffer from insufficient dev/artistic resources because all the talent gets shifted over to the MMO division).
