Let's Play Dress Up!

Post » Tue Mar 23, 2010 5:14 pm

I have always been a svcker for the wide verity of Fashion available within the TES games. It adds an element of fun that most other RPGs overlook! Is anyone else excited to see what new and unique fashion is going to be in Skyrim?

It would be cool to make a Diplomatic/spy like character and look the part. I am not meaning bowtie and tux but something like a nobel outfit.

As a FPP only player the only benefit i gain is very varied wardrobe amongst the world's inhabitants which is nice. Even if I played 3PP, i have no need to wear different types of clothes because there is no benefit outside of rp.

No idea what those acronyms mean.. as for wardrobe id like to see even more variety than was seen in Morrowind, if not id like to be able to dye clothes. I rp ALOT on second life and there is no game that offeres a more diverse wardrobe than second life.

Second Life isn't a fair comparison to Skyrim because the wardrobe choices in Second Life are entirely player-generated.

I just hope the clothing choices in Skyrim aren't as butt-ugly as the Oblivion choices. All my characters wear the same dark shirt and burgundy pants because those are the only clothes that aren't poorly-textured or clashing in colour.

Hey, as long as I can actually wear clothes under my armour (and have it actually show!) then I'm all for new clothes.

If not... then they're pretty much pointless.

I liked the skirt and Orc armour combo in Morrowind, add a katana and it was very cool indeed! Tbh I think I preferred all the clothing and armour choices in Morrowind over Oblivion.

I can't recall if Oblivion let you wear clothes under armours and still see them but I do hope they put it in Skyrim,

Once again a chance to say : Gloves.
Gloves for mages, who don't wear armour.

Also, shoes. I may be weird to have paid special attention to that, but in Oblivion their variety was rather... well, there wasn't much in the way of customisation potential - all the middle-class footwear looked like retextures and the upper-class matched only their own 'sets'. I'd like my character to try on different shapes and makes - like the elaborate 'Exquisite' shoes from Morrowind, the original design of the shoes from the 'White Robe' set in Oblivion (only with more colour choices or the ability to dye) and even the Antique-High-Heel-Red-Doll-Shoes lovely footwear from Shivering Isles (though obviously with more attention to details and texturing, and not glue-stuck to one model of dress, though the dress was pretty too) - and I'd like them to enhance the rest of the wardrobe instead of painfully clashing with it no matter what the rest of the wardrobe is.

I hope there's a nice variety of clothes in Skyrim and hopefully it will be easier to mix and match with more body slots or whatever you call em.

I have to admit, one of the reason I play a magic user on Oblivion was because I prefer the freedom to choose a variety of outfits for my character. If I was a warrior of any type I would be stuck with limited armour.

Though of course, the options are not as broad as I would have liked in Oblivion. Most clothes are not designed to match anything. Made worse by the fact that clothing mods that are non-armour are rare as hen's teeth.
