I'm no good at being bad

Post » Thu Mar 25, 2010 5:08 pm

I don't like playing evil in the sense of "kill every good person you see"

I lie, cheat, and steal at pretty much every opportunity though. I don't even bother looking at my karma in Fallout because I know what I am - I don't need a little screen to tell me.

No game is ever going to nail down a good morality system. Not ever.

Ever see the movie "No Country for Old Men"?
My not so nice 'courier' was similar to the guy with the coin toss fetish.

I didn't snuff everybody... but a random person in every settlement or camp ended up with a terminal case of... something.
I tried to get creative, which made it fun even for a goody two shoes (me in real life).
Mines, C4, sniper shots, reverse pickpocket with a grenade, lure a radscorpion into a group of NPCs... I even went on a Brahmin tipping rampage. Mwah hahahahaha

I still felt guilt, but kept telling myself not to be silly. It's role play and the only thing dying is pixels.
It helped that I wasn't slaughtering everyone and everything. I just left enough bodies laying around to (supposedly) confuse/scare the locals.

About the time I got to the Strip I got tired of it and re-started from an early save.

Brahmin tipping . . . . great scott I forgot all about that! I haven't enjoyed a good Brahmin tipping jaunt since . . . . well . . . . Megaton.

On a completely un-related note . . . have you tried Big Horner tipping yet?

Lol. Big Horner tipping? Sounds like I need to investigate this.
Matter of fact, I may need to excercise my stealth skills to try out some other wasteland creatures. Deathclaw tipping sounds like a challenge.
I've done it before but I don't think it counts considering that I used a rocket launcher. :tops:

 I tried that in Goodsprings and it didn't work for me.

My current character was supposed to be not-so-good. It just didn't happen. Even though I'm up to a certain part of the main quest, and both sides have made me offers of "any bad you did against us will be forgiven" I'm still sliding towards the side of the NCR. And I'm Idolized by Novac.
Because I play female characters maybe I make them like me. I have heard that if you play as the opposite gender to what you are in real life then it's a bit easier to be something you're not. Evil, or just a jerk.
I haven't been able to make a decent-looking male character so haven't tried it with this game yet. It was a little easier to do in FO3, though (be evil and create a decent character).

I'm only on my second play through. Plenty of time to get it right :)

I didn't notice any difference except that Mortimer of the white glove society will give you a quest if you have bad karma. When I did my good guy character, he wouldn't give me any work. That's the only thing I noticed.

you can still get the quest from Mortimer if you put on the white gloves disguise

Yeah, I can never make even my most devilish characters help take out Goodsprings... even villains can have honor, and appreciate when someone saved your life.

Once you start the quest helping the powder gangers, however (or any situation where a faction turns against you), as soon as they become red blips on your radar trying to take YOU down, it becomes a lot easier to mop up the floor with your former BFFs.
