Question about Problem-Solving

Post » Wed Apr 07, 2010 2:36 pm

Many of the mods I download cause my Oblivion game to CTD upon start up (the game begins to run, but before it even gets to the Bethesda logo, it just shuts down). Deactivating the mods USUALLY fixes the problem. My question is, is there a way to fix this problem? Sometimes it happens with mods that I'd really like to be able to play. Would uninstalling/reinstalling, or deleting/redownloading work? Or is there another way?

Thanks a lot.

Usually it has to do with a bad load order, its all about finding the best way to order the mods so that they dont conflict with eachother.

Alright thank you, thats a huge help. Is there any method to figuring out the proper load order for all your mods to work? Or is it just trial and error?

If you have OBMM then it has a conflict detector, or if not, you can try http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2579 I mainly use the conflict detector and a lot of trial and error.

Thanks again. It seems I have a larger problem now: When I try to start Oblivion, it simply doesn't start. Not even like the CTD that I was having before. It just does nothing. When using OBSE/OBMM to start up, the initial black box comes up, stays a little longer than usual, then closes. Nothing after that. I just installed Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul before it happened. Is there any way to fix *this* problem?

Update: Actually, I just tried starting up using the regular start-up. It seemed to do nothing for a very long time, and then the "No Disc Inserted" message came up, but the disk is inserted.
