Dragon Treasure?

Post » Sun Apr 11, 2010 6:21 am

We all know dragons have treasure right? Of course we do. Now they also live in caves. So will there be dragon caves with the holy grail of loot in them?

May I see a source where it says they have treasure and caves?

I think tc is suggesting smaug-type dragons. What we've seen so far though suggests that dragons will be outdoor creatures.

The one in Redguard did.

Different type of dragon though.

I wouldn't mind seeing a few of the tougher, quest-related dragons have a store of loot, but not everyone, that would make it worthless.

The reward is the eternal gratitude of Skyrim.... and a dragon's soul.

Wasn't it announced that dragons will be a common encounter?

Yeah, I believe it was. With the exception of any main quest set pieces, I doubt we will be seeing many dragon liars, or hordes of treasure. Dragon scales to turn into different kinds of armour would be nice though.

From what I understand, these aren't the usual dragons, who go about collecting treasure, eating sheep, and in general live their lives. No, they are the harbingers of Doom, with the single goal of destroying the world.

It would be cool to encounter a jewel hoarding dragon in a cave.A closed quarters battle with a dragon could get nasty.

The dragon in Redguard had a horde. It was a red dragon, though, not a black/gray one. It's been mentioned there are multiple types of dragons in Skyrim, however, and IIRC it's been mentioned some may appear in caves, so who knows what we'll run into.

Considering in fantasy there are many different types of dragons, one of the more common ones being a treasure hoarder, I would not be surprised to see a dragon lair with quite a bit of fancy treasure in it, unless it liked collecting silver cups for example...

I don't think dragons do come in caves (no one has really said no or yes about caves, but they constantly referr to them flying so I think they are out doors)

I think it has been specifcly said that SK dragons won't be smaug type dragons.

but imo, dragon treasure sounds better than dragon shouts. maybe they eat the treasure?

I would love to see a Smaug type dragon. I doubt that every single dragon in Skyrim will be a follower of Alduin, so some may go rogue and chill out in a cave with some sweet loot. I don't think the lore supports the notion that being a dragon means you automatically follow Alduin, because a very small number of dragons lived before Skyrim (like the redguard one), and I would assume their existence was independent of the whole destroy Nirn thing.

Maybe a reference to the treasure hoarding, princess stealing, dragons of yore. Not a common thing though.
