Skyrim age certificate

I want blood, dismemberment, obsessive drug use and all that. I wouldn't do them in real life so i expect a game to deliver the goods. :mohawk:

Proper skooma dens & all that jazz, likely to bump the ratings up, would be interesting.

To ensure the game gets an M rating, I want the first npc you meet to shout the f word as you approach them.

I'm guessing M this time, because of what happened with Oblivion they most likely figured since the rating will eventually get bumped up anyways may as well make it that way to start.

I don't think there's any discussion really that it will be anything other than 17+ for ESRB.

EDIT: Out of curiosity I looked at my Oblivion box. It's rated T? How did I not notice that, so many things are rated M these days that I just figured...

Regardless that doesn't change my previous statement that it'll probably be M.

I reckon 18 in Europe, M rated in the US.

That is, exactly the same rating as Oblivion :).

[edit]
Huh. My mistake, I could have sworn Oblivion was 18 rated. Getting it mixed up with the Witcher, probably

Oblivion is rated M. (Well, now, anyway) I believe it was T when it was first released. ...I could be mistaking it for another game.

I think they will extend on the drugs this time. The Nords are heavy drinkers so who knows what substances they take ;) I want moon sugar back. I want shops to refuse my services for carrying drugs or a large extent of booze. It just all adds to the immersion.. :liplick:

I thought that it had already been rated at 18+?
I'm not sure where I got that idea from, but it probably will be.
I will be 18 when it comes out so it's kinda' irrelevant to me.

Just to contribute to the confusion. Oblivion was originally rated for "T" and the rating was upped to "M". More info here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ESRB_re-rating_of_The_Elder_Scrolls_IV:_Oblivion

I'm not sure about what rating Skyrim will have, but I think the only people who really care about age ratings are producers and (somewhat overzealous) moms. :)

I'll raise my glass to that one and you watch it'll be a Bosmer that shouts the 1st F word.

I'm betting, and hoping, Skyrim will be rated M, and to buy or rent a Mature rated game in the United States you have to be 17, so 17.

Well, I bought Oblivion when it was rated T instead of M, but I was 21-22 (I can't remember what month it was released) at the time anyway. I'd prefer Skyrim to be rated T instead of M so more people can enjoy the game and leave the embellishments for the modders.

No, Nords are just drinkers as a general rule. Khajit take drugs. Really I don't want any drugs in Skyrim apart from the ones already in the series. It worked in FO, but it just wouldn't fit TES lore in my eyes.
As for the rating I'll put a guess out at 15.

Going by the American ratings and looking at the rest of the series, Arena is T-rated, Daggerfall is M, Morrowind is T, Oblivion is M. Oblivion WAS T-rated, but the rating was changed because... well, when the ESRB gets bad publicity over a rating that's almost invariably what they do, whether or not the change was warranted. So take from that what you will - the ratings change on Oblivion makes it hard to call (since they did get a T, but didn't do anything to fight the change to an M rating or even seem to care much), but from what I can tell they really don't care what rating their games get so long as it's not an AO or equivalent. It'll get whatever's deemed appropriate for whatever content they create for it.
