weapons that and armor that physically break

Don't you think having a sword break into shards during combat or a helmet getting a hairline crack would add a cool moment to combat?

I'd probably cry if I saw my favourite sword shatter during combat, but seeing my armour being damaged over time (Assassin's Creed 2 has this mechanic, somewhat) would be pretty cool, yes.

Definetely, would like environmental destruction as well. Maybe not DMM or GeoMod 2.0 degree but somethink close would cool. I knwo this would bring a lot of complication for the devs so it's not a necessary element but would be interesting if done well.

Absolutely support. This goes along with my idea of a new, immersive, and intense combat system making full use of a more realistic physics engine. Oblivion was a huge step over the repetitive baseball bat swing of Morrowind, but now it's time to actually feel like you are fighting. I want an archer to feel the strain of shooting an arrow from a bow and seeing that pressure. I want to see and orc go into a rage and shatter glass, splinter wood, and bend metal with his mace. I want to see a warrior in the arena barely evade a vicious attack from that orc's mace and the mace breaks off part of the wall. Even sweat from fatigue on a character's face would be a nice addition to the immersion. These are dangerous times, and if one is fighting, it is for survival.

Armor yes, and it should be visual. But weapons no. Weapons breaking in game is usually just annoying in my opinion.

It would be great if nonenchanted weapons could completely break if you didnt repair them before that point. Or you could even be more specific and have enchantment options to make a weapon unbreakable instead of just having all enchanted weapons have this trait.

This is not high on my list of priorities.

This is a great idea. Not only would it be visually awesome, it would make weapon and armor upkeep an even greater part of the game. If your equipment gets to 0, it shouldn't just "be broken" and unavailable, it should actually break

Wouldn't mind nicks and cracks on a damaged blade but not fully shattered. Would love to see real time damage on your armour, dents, scratched, cracks etc

Maybe ... It would be annoying sometimes, but it sure is realistic. And I love realistic stuff.

I'd really hate it for armor, not without significant changes that can't really be done to the combat system.

What's wrong with it, you ask?

*enemy is wailing on you, pounding in your chest*

*your left boot crumbles to pieces*

WTH?

Could be cool to see the armor getting smashed but it will annoy the hell out of me if it was on weapons as well, what I do want though is that blood will actually show on your weapons when you fight stuff and not just be magically clean all the time even though you're cutting someone's guts :P

Preferably with some amount of context. If you're fighting a human opponent, their weapons will gradually damage your armor, sure, but your briastplate isn't going to just suddenly explode. For particularly huge and strong enemies, however, it could be an active threat. Some huge ogre wielding a weapon might smash yours in two and send you rolling across the room. It would make such conflicts more interesting and difficult and help make them seem like an actually dangerous thing you have to approach differently or not at all, instead of "exactly the same as every other battle but taller".

I'd like to see armor and weapons acrue visible damage in the form of nicks and scraqes, but not necessarily break.

Picking up the broken pieces of my equipment (or the enemy's stuff, if I want it) just doesn't sound fun in any way.

Plus I can see this easily looking ridiculous. Ex: I stab some guy with a dagger and his armor suddenly bursts off.

There are too many weapons which would *never* cause armor to break, and furthermore, unless you had different ways of damage modeling for every weapon (dents for blunts, scraqes for swords, etc) it would just end up looking worse than no damage at all. That's a lot of work so it probably won't be done well - in which case it probably shouldn't be done.

I like realism so I'd probably enjoy something like this.

I wouldn't want to actually lose an item I'd spent ages trying to get, so maybe it would just be a visual thing and stick to the same Oblivion system of weapons and armor getting weaker with use but can always be repaired.

I'd personally like to see an improvement on the current repair system though, maybe haveing to gather materials for the repair, like being able to turn an item like an Iron Cuirass into pieces of Iron and Cloth that could be used for repairing.

Which isnt so hard to fix if you just add damage on different areas (He hits your left boot, your left boot gets damaged, he hits your chest, your chest gets damaged...)

Unless these weapons are coming from the Nashkel Mines, I'm going for a 'no' here.

If this game is going to allow mods, wouldn't this force all modders to make different versions of their armor from dented to cut ect?
