Post » Sun Apr 18, 2010 12:30 am

How many different sets of armour are people wanting to see in Skyrim? Personally I would like to see no lass then what was in Morrowind and it's expansions (25+) and defiantly more then was in Oblivion (12-15??).

As many as possible. Hopefully we also get a few armors made from the same material(like ebony) that have been forged in different traditions(like nordic, elvish, orcish etc).

It'd be nice to have lots more armour, sure. The Morrowind amount was a good amount. I don't want them to overdo it, either :P
Even the Oblivion amount would be okay, but I'd like the lines between armour sets to be less clear, like they were in FO3. In OB, you started out with rusty armour, and then immediately went out to buy a full suit of regular iron and an iron sword. Then, at level five, you went out to buy a full suit of steel and a steel sword, and so on.
In Fallout 3, at level five you had to choose between the heavier Combat Armour and the lighter but less protective Recon Armour, and both came with different skill bonuses. I'd like Skyrim to be more like that.

This would make a big difference. If every armour consisted of 3 elements: 1. material, 2. type, 3. style that would give us a lot more than Oblivion.
I'd like to see some unusual materials returning too. Trollbone defnitely. Depending on how much Dunmer influence there is maybe chitin, bonemold, dreugh.
Hopefully glass, ebony and Daedric will be very rare. After all the mines in vvardenfell would all have been destroyed when Red Mountain erupted.

I'll settle for no less than infinity, with hundreds in the base game and the rest released daily as five-cent DLCs, even if it means thousands of slaves working for Bethesda all round the clock until they're spent and discarded.

But more realistcally, as long as they do it the Morrowind way, with quantity and variety that doesn't make me go 'well, I played, I saw everything, I can't stand to look at it any longer' after just ten hours of gameplay, I should be happy until modders start taking care of things (but to add to the designers' work, not do it for them again - Shivering Isles set tolerable standards of quality, though, so I have faith Skyrim will at least live up to them).

I think someone imprented your opinions in my Harddrive, my Queen :P
I think a few Dunmer armors should be present, but without the local bugs of Morrowind it could be hard to make chitin(and Indoril armor). Bonemold should make an appearance IMO and so should the Nordic Trollbone. Hopefully the rune-enhanced weaponry(nordic in MW) are included, but thats another topic.
I like the "3-elements" setup :D

I'd love to see a set of Chitin and/or Bonemold armor make it into the game. Perhaps brought over by some Dunmer refugees.

I'd like a decent variety of leather armours for thieves; that actually look good.

Provided there's some actual differences between them other than just appearance.

I think there could be a possible solution. Each race has different physionomy from one another. So no matter the material, all/most of the armor sets should look similar.
In example:
If you play Orc, all armors should look basically the same as the Orkish armor in Oblivion, but with different details and coloring, resembling the materials used to make the pieces. For example, Daedric Orkish Armor, the base lines of the models are same, but details different, in this case black/red coloring and more spikes/sharp edges.

As far as i recall from playing TES 3 and 4 there is armor sets for each race, Nordic, Elven, Imperial, Orkish, Ordinator etc etc. This might reduce the diversity in looks for the PC, but it will look better when you meet, let's say a band of marauders consisted with NPC from various races, they will all look different.

And if you want to imply a logic in this matter you will see that i am correct about this. How do you plan to fit an Argonian in Imperial Guard Armor, where the armor it self is made for a race that has different physionomy than the Argonians ?

In addition to this, every time you start a new game (presumably you will play different race from the previous game), things will look somewhat "new" and "different" from the previous race you've played. So basically the form of the armor pieces for one race is the same with distinguishable details. Oh this is Orkish Armor, it looks just like it, but wait... it's Daedric too, look at all thos spikes and stuff on it....

I hope you get the idea.....
