Campfires...

Post » Thu Apr 22, 2010 3:40 pm

So has anyone stumbled upon any other campfires out there in the desert? I would love to cook some of this meat, but I just haven't found any campfires yet outside of Goodsprings. No exact locations, dont want to spoil anything, but maybe a general "West of XXXX" wouldnt hurt. LOL

Yes, Campfires are out there all over. I have stumbled on six or eight others without even trying.

I've found a few of them out there, plus the three you see in the tutorial

Well, geez. Ok then, I guess I'll keep an eye out. Must have missed them all.

You'll usually find them in places people would actually camp overnight. Keep an eye out for stuff like shacks, trailers, farmsteads. Most of the smallest compass marked locations are this kind of place.

They can be hard to find sometimes if there's no fire burning since they just look like a small pile of rubble. Except for the big bonfires... Those look like bigger piles of rubble :P

I'm considering making a "Living of the land" kind of mod and I would most definitely add a perk to set up camp or track campfires via quest markers.

PROTIP: you can cook on unlit campfires... for some reason

I'm pretty sure the unlit campfires are a bug - because they make noise like they're lit, there's just no fire graphic.

I've also found campfires in sheltered areas (like the little area NW of Wolfhorn Ranch up on the hill where the bandits hang out).

Only a few, would be better if we could make them, survival is weaker than the other options, so that would make up for it.
