COMPANIONS DISAPPEARED!

Post » Tue Apr 27, 2010 11:40 am

After killing Mr House and getting out safely (thanks Stealth Boy), I went to Helios One to gather spare parts to fix the array panels for the Boomers. After I began gathering a few of the array parts, I noticed my two partners-Rex and Veronica-were missing. I went back to the pretty much all the places I'd been in the last half hour of game time...nothing. I'm running the game on Xbox 360 and, consequently, can't use the console to solve the problem. Anyone know how to solve this bug? I need Veronica especially to complete the Brotherhood of Steel quest and get awesome power armour training.

That is the problem. They dissapeared just before I saved. And not noticing they'd gone just yet, I saved. No previous save to use.

Go to Vault 22 and take the elevator.

I'm not a high enough level and lack the resources/sneak skill to get to the elevator. Besides I heard that often didn't work? Remember I'm using the Xbox 360 version of the game-not PC. Thanks for the advice still. I'll try it out if I get some spare time.

I've noticed when visiting Mr House's level in the Lucky 38, your companions seem to be automatically set to their wait status. So you could try the floor of the Lucky 38 that you were on just before you used the lift to Mr House's level and see if they're lurking in that area still.

Edit: With regards to the vault 22 semi-solution, that can work on the 360 or at least it's worked for myself on the 360.

I had that bug, but went back and got them. Lead them all the way through Helios One to the back with the Array panels and then they disappeared.

Also after enough time they can at least sometimes be automatically dismissed from your 'service' and travel back to their starting point, although the first time I 'lost' Veronica it seemed to take quite a while, but if I read things correctly that might be speeded up by waiting/sleeping for about a week or so ingame.

OK, next time I play the game I'll try your ideas. I'll wait/sleep a few days of gametime and then return to the companion's place of getting like. Any quicker ways you know of getting them back though?

The vault 22 way works pretty good as long as you have the repair to fix the elevator. And the enemy's around the vault are easy, and in the vault itself there really isn't anything scary till you get deep into the vault.

OK, but I haven't discovered the Vault yet. My repair is pretty low too. What repair you need?

Don't need repair skill, just save Kelly.

Is Kelly near the entrance or something? Also, I heard that if you wait a couple of days you'll get a message saying '[Companion Name] was dismissed from your party'. Then you go and find them again-voila. Does that actually work though?

By the end.

Should just go in there.
I think the spore carriers scales to your level and mantis and spore plants are weak anyway, easy to go get her and fix the elevator.

I'll bet you left them at Lucky 38.

If they aren't there outside, then save game and go forward at least 7 days and check for them at their waiting places which I believe would be Lucky 38 for Rex anyway. By going forward those 7 days you'll at least find out if you are going to get them back and maybe even where they are in the first place. All is not lost!

If you go and just repair the elevator and take it to oxygen supply you get your companions back right away. I guess you can go through the whole quest but that seems like the long way around. Repair 50 I guess is a bit high, if you need the location talk to Dr. Hidern in camp McCarran or Red Lucy in the thorn. Both will put vault 22 on the map for you.

Thats why you dont save over your only save, always keep like 3 or so saves so you have something to fall back on, if you can have multiple saves on Xbox that is...

I've found them at the Lucky 38 a couple of times when they have dissapeared, usually on the level you get given to make a pad. Not sure it happens every time i go there though or what triggers it.
