New school of magic - time travel

Post » Tue Apr 27, 2010 10:26 pm

Have you guys ever wanted to actually slow down time? Like in Fallout 3, but only literally the time around you flows slower? It would make combat really freaking fun.

And if you REALLY become proficient in this school of magic, you'l get a new quest, a quest of time travelling. You travel back thousands of years to the time of the dwarfs. There you can explore, kill them and even get your hands on some serious firepower. Perhaps some dwermer muskets or snipers? These things would be end-game weapons pretty much, though.

Just an idea.

Just an idea guys, pls go easy.

The best long-range weapon the dwarves built were giant crossbows. They never had guns. They were far too concerned with tonal architecture and turning their entire race into the skin of the Numidium.

I know there's a perk for bows that does this, like in Red Dead Redemption when firing guns, and there's a dragon shout that slows time. As for literally travelling back through time, no thanks on that one.

I REALLY like time travel in games, but I don't want it for TES.

There is a dragon shout that slows down time -- I can handle that. But full-on time travel? Time travel is such a big thing it needs to be at the heart of a game (eg Prince of Persia: the Sands of Time) rather than just another feature.

Perhaps one or two quests that involve a "chronomancer" (there was one in the Shivering Isles) transporting you to another time would be OK. Okami did this extremely well with a short episode of time-travel shenanigans.

But I don't want player-controlled time travel.

For crying out loud Kirov, you just had a pointless firearm thread locked and now you're starting another one again? When are you going to take the hint?

Well, you can already slow down time with dragon shouts, and--

It's already there. It's called 'load a previous save'.

There is actually a Shout that can slow down time.

But otherwise, yea, no one wants guns in TES.

Another guns thread by you?

Anyway, my thoughts about slow time (including the slow time dragon shout we already have): I don't like it. Feels lame and non-TES. More like something that could be in a Fable game or a blockbuster movie. I don't think slow time or go back in time or anything like that should be in TES at all.

I thought this was already confirmed as a dragon shout.

Enough with the firearm threads already. You spammed a lot of them now.
