Boone, horseman of the apocalypse

Post » Mon May 03, 2010 3:05 pm

Well, for everyone complaining about how ridiculous Boone is, here's my personal favorite Boonedock Saint moment, on hardcoe/Very Difficult.

Boone, armed with a sniper rifle, 200 AP .308 shells, five grenades, and the lowest tier BoS power armor (which he can wear as soon as you find some, no training required) solo'd the entirety of Camp McCarran without taking any noticeable damage at all. I simply started up the fight and watched him go to town. He cleared the train station/command post in under two minutes without taking a single point of damage. I led him outside and he mopped up the entire camp with no fuss. The yard was a mess of dismembered limbs, bodies buried under a sea of arms and heads.

I'm pretty sure that Boone could literally destroy the entire world before needing to take a nap. A hail of warheads reducing the nation to a nuclear wasteland has nothing on the destruction that a single Boone will unleash upon the planet.

Boone is as powerful as he is inept.

He aggros Deathclaws with no regard to intelligence. He pisses off Cazadores like it's nobody's business. He tells me he's set to ranged attacks and he runs after people with a Golf Club. I tell him not to attack people unless I do, and he says "I'm already doing that", but as I'm looking at an enemy in my sights, I see Boone running off into the distance to attack it before I even fire a shot.

Boone is lethal, of that there's no doubt. But the kid fell off the back of the short S.P.E.C.I.A.L. bus, I'm telling ya.

This should totally be some sort of meme.
Haven't got the game yet, but surely he isn't so good in some areas, due to the fact that the enemies don't level like in fallout 3?

I stripped Boone down to his skivies and only gave him a knife (cause his pre-sniping was pissin me off)

Still, he runs into battle, busting out the ol' stabbin knife.

Last night I was watching Simpsons and they had this episode on where the Simpsons met a hobo who was singing.

RIGHT when Boone was going after some Powder Gangers, you hear http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i_6TBTP-EJI

:D Priceless.

No, no... it's all quite suicidal.

See, what I didn't mention was that in 100% of the cases where he pulls aggro, he gets both he and myself killed.

100% of the time.

If he detects an enemy, he'll run through a minefield and take us both with him because he's got more tunnel vision than a gynecologist.

How the hell is your Boone dying? Mine just one-shots things from a mile away. He literally does not get hurt. Only time he died was when he ran into the middle of the Van Graff death squad inside their shop screaming "I AM A GOLDEN GOD" directly into a plasma caster stream. Now that, I will admit, was suicidal. But even Gods get tired.
