physics system

Post » Fri May 14, 2010 5:27 pm

I actually had a lot of fun in Oblivion trying to manipulate items using the physics system.

Will we be able to paralyze things and watch them bounce down the mountain like in oblivion?

Will we be able to drag objects and creatures like in oblivion?

What other new features will there be to the physics system that will allow greater interactivity with the environment?

I have been thinking about this a lot actually. I hope they don't spend so much of their time on other things and not implement physics to everything and being able to pick up or drag pretty much anything again.

There has to be picking up and draging people/items... it leaves room for so much... I dunno imagination or something.. I loved murdering Argonians ( Khajiit licks their butts eh?) and dragging their corpses to the nearest bush or pond. Or hill.
I think that if you kill someone and no one sees and you don't hide the body, gaurds will look for them on account of people wondering. But you could hide the body and get off scott free, as long as the blacksmith didn't see you out and about last night...

I hope they still have this. I remember in New Vegas doing things like throwing bodies of Caesars Legion soldiers onto fire where they belonged after I killed them, or if allies die in battle I like to line them up on the ground out of respect. Also, nothing is more fun to me than stacking up the pile of weapons I get after a large battle full o loot :D

Well I hope NPC will better reaction on dragging and dropping items around similar to
Put it in its Place - Enhanced Grabbing

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L8gvcTLqzns
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4S-Foy5Zo8M

As well adding ability to lock items on places and grab lock

Also nice to see more movable furniture thats can be moved like in
Imperial Furniture Renovated

and
Physical Throwable Chests and Crates: Gold Edition

As well some more powerful Telekinesis spell so with enough skills in alteration (since Mysticism is out) and magicka it can be usable in combat also to thrown items into enemies and push hold or move them and disarm them, more options for mages and not all need destruction as major school specialization.
With combination with slowfall Telekinesis can work as levitation also, but since both hands used its will be more balanced then before.

As far as physics go, I just hope it is comparable to most modern games...hair, clothing, character, creature, and environment physics.

Well they're using a much better implementation of Havok so I'd imagine it's even better than it was before. I just wish we had cloth physics :shakehead:

There will be physics. All good games have them these days.

i remember in oblivion were a guard killed someone for stealing and as soon as the fight was over he checked to see if she was alive and said; a murder is on the loose and walked off like nothing happend

Looks like a fantastic Physics system in this game.. Look at the trailer and see how that dragon's head just bashes off to the side when hit. Instead of rag dolling everywhere when dead, seems like the physics is going to be much more combat oriented and provide some insane gameplay!

I for one hope that the grabbing and placing of items is a lot more accurate for us interior decorator types. Getting things in just the right position in my houses, only to have them fall through tables or fly off of shelves, was really frustrating. There was a nice mode that I used called (I believe) Decorator Assistant. Something like that (or better) would be nice.

I would love to just run into every house and "FUS RO DAH" all the chairs tables and [censored] and run away like an [censored]. They would be all like "every day with with that [censored] dragon born guy" "Runs into our homes and topples all the [censored] furniture over"
