There are no godlike items here. You can gain some pretty good temporary bonuses once a day and you can also risk getting "cursed" for even better bonuses by experimenting with the alchemy vat and Ayleid spell book.
Although there is still a lot of monetary treasure here, I did reduce it by half. This mansion belonged to a group of high level heroes, so it would be unrealistice to think they did not have a lot of treasure and goodies.
DWEMER COINS straight out of Morrowind have been found by the League of Champions and its up to you to find them in the Mansion! (No new texture here, however)
There are so many major and minor changes to make things more entertaining, interesting, and most importantly, functional, that I can't even remember them all, but the readme below will reflect much of it.
WARNING: This mod is for very high level characters. Yes there is a lot of loot and items that could give you the upper hand if used correctly, but if you are already level 25+, then you probably already have access to such items and riches anyway, so it is not a cheat mod. You will NOT be able to win the mansion with a low-level character and if you are about level 20 or so, you will need help from companions. Have fun and good luck, you'll probably need it.
PLUS, most of the magic-related goodies are completely random. This means that when you use certain items, whether its a preserved sorcerer's head or a forgotten tome of Ayleid spells, you have a chance of either gaining something like a powerful spell or ability or being hurt in some awful and horrendous way.
MANSION OF CHAMPIONS
You have heard in your travels that there is a person who is desparately waiting to see you in Skingrad. He's waiting at the West Weald Inn around lunchtime every day and then wanders the city other times. When you arrive there, you meet a man named Jun Septim who tells you that he needs your help. He offers you something far beyond your wildest dreams in return. It seems that he is of the Septim line and also the current owner of the magical Septim Mansion, a magical place that was created in a forgotten age by a powerful emperor and a great wizard. It is a portable mansion that is as luxurious and spacious as the Imperial Palace, but it can only be entered and exited through magical means.
Jun inherited the mansion from Cyrodiil's greatest architect, SIETSE, and has spent a lot of time, energy, magic and money renovating it to his tastes. He is no emperor, but he is a powerful wizard in his own right. Furthermore, he was head of a great group of heroes called the League of Champions. With them, he was responsible for destroying more evil in Cyrodiil and beyond than anyone in the last fifty years. Trouble reared its ugly head, however, when necromancy was outlawed in Cyrodiil. Jun's apprentice, Agrippa, was a necromancer, and so was his friend, the newest member of the team, Aleister. The league was torn on whether to continue allowing necromancy to be practiced in its ranks. As months passed, the members began deciding that it was a useful skill for their purposes, but Jun still absolutely forbade it. Although the League was always a democracy, Jun would not allow it and threatened to disband the team and expel everyone from the mansion. Agrippa left the mansion in anger and the other members started to settle down, though they did not appreciate Jun's sudden overturning in their democratic ideals.
No one realized, however that Agrippa was far more powerful than he let on and had obtained the secret to lichhood. Exactly thirten days from the time he left, Agrippa returned, furious and undead. He rallied the other members, and together, they fought and defeated Jun, expelling HIM from the mansion.
Now, Jun wants you to take back the mansion from his traitorous friends. He wants you to kill them all. As a reward, the mansion shall be yours. The shock and dismay of the betrayal still weighs heavily on his heart and he has no desire to return to its place. He wishes only to see justice (or revenge) and to pass it on to a worthy adventurer who will perform this deed.
NEW: Jun will recognize everytime you defeat one of his former companions and may even give you a little help along the way if you go back to him each time.
FEATURES
COMMON ROOM
The main entry consists of the large common room, the common dining room, the common bedroom, and the common bathroom. It is meant to hold many, many partners...as many as your computer will allow.
The common room is very large and has plenty of new couches and chairs handcrafted by XIAMARA AND ZIMNEL. It is done in a regal white decor with rugs and tapestries woven by SENARIA. There is a throne in the middle carved by DIANNE that was built to represent the majesty of the unicorn, Jun's own symbol. It has two unicorn horns on the arms that can be used anytime to restore your health and fatigue. These were always used by the League after returning from their missions. There are also snacks placed on tables for your eating pleasure.
More food can be found in the common dining room. There are tables and chairs to eat at, plus a buffet of food in the form of containers that respawn so you should always have something differnet to eat. The tables were crafted by STOTIS and the chairs are custom by DAVID WHITEFANG and are set with beautiful Ayleid tableware brought in by MEO.
The common bedroom is at the end of the long hall. It has a lot of beds for a lot of companions. It is decorated with colorful tapestries courtesy of SENARIA.
The common bathroom has two baths, two sinks and four commodes, all installed by STOTIS. You can use the commodes in private because they are tastefully hidden behind the storage cabinets used for towels and soap. There are two YOU can sit on with no effect. The other two, you can't sit on, but they will give you a random effect and your character will say something via a little message on top. (For those of you who know me and my childish humor, let's just say I let it run a little wild here). You can relax in one bathtub, and the other one offers a chance of disease resistence of you use it. You can wash your face in the sinks and gain a Personality boost.
There are visitors who come to the Mansion via secret means created by Jun and they offer various services. You never know who will be popping up, an alchemy trainer perhaps? Maybe a weaponsmith selling his wares. They are happy to either train you or trade with you.
BEDROOM
The south hallway takes you past the common dining room to a door that leads to the bedroom. You enter into a soft blue light that fills the room with relaxing hues. You see to either side of you display shelves full of decorative Ayleid pottery. Upon closer inspection, you find that each one is inscribed with four mysterious letters, COBL. Softly humming crystals grow from the middle of the room and a spiral staircase glides up to the top level.
There, you see a comfy bed fit for a king. It's surrounded by a dresser, a footlocker and a nightstand created by XIA and donated by WILLIESEA. To your right, there is a very tall set of clothing racks, full of clothing courtesy of REAPER911. Some are marked MY CLOTHES and these make the perfect place for your finer wear. The other racks spawn various clothing. (BTW: Wouldn't it be nice if Apachii Goddess Store and other clothing store mods would add their clothes to Levelled Lists so that you could see them worn everywhere in the world? I did it for my own personal mod, and it's really cool going to a city and seeing all these people decked out in modded clothing. So maybe if we all got together and asked nicely they will do it) There are also a line of shoes on the floor provided by KORANA that serve as containers for your shoes. A large dining table is set for a service of four. Trays and plates were brought in by DAVID WHITEFANG and they hold respawning food. The wine racks respawn various drinks. There is a loom and other sewing equipment for looks only lent by KORANA. A nice couch, some comfy chairs and some new tables have been provided by XIAMARA and WILLIESEA.The bedroom walls are decorated with paintings from REAPER911's Necromancer Tower mod.
TELEPORT ROOM
The south door at the end of the north hall will take you to the Teleport room. This is where you appear when you enter Septim Mansion, atop the portal that will take you back to where you were when you cast the Septim Mansion Portal spell. There are four special portals provided by REAPER911. One takes you to any other place in the Mansion. There is also a portal there that will take you to any city you want in Cyrodiil. Another portal was used by league members when they got bored. It takes you to a random spot, maybe a dungeon, maybe a forest, who knows? Just be prepared for anything. The League's assassin, Chaostica, installed teleportation to the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary. The necromancer, Alestair, installed teleportation to the dreaded NECROMANCER TOWER built in the dark times ruled by REAPER911, and Jun had teleportation installed to the mysterious and grand Ancient Towers built by the powerful wizard WILLYSEA. Interesting enough, the resident Orc Berserker, Ug Nak Gim, added a portal to Millstone Farm, a cute and quaint little cottage built by KORANA. I guess even cold-hearted killers love the warm comforts of this home.
YOU NEED MILLSTONE FARM, NECROMANCER TOWER OR ANCIENT TOWERS MODS INSTALLED IF YOU WANT TO GO TO THESE PLACES OR ELSE YOU WILL END UP IN BARE WILDERNESS. YOU CAN DOWNLOAD THEM HERE AT TES NEXUS.
LIBRARY
The north hall also takes you to the door to the extensive library used by the league. It holds many, many books from REAPER911 and KORANA in the form of containers that respawn, so you will always have something interesting to read. There are other books with fascinating covers decorating the area from MEO AND DIANNE. There are also small stacks of Note Containers for your various letters and notes given to you by various mods.
There is a study table for you and companions where you will see someone has laid out some of DIANNE'S Tarot cards in a spread. Looks like the future is bright for you! You will also find a special quill that Jun used for scribing scrolls. Use it and it will ask you what kind of scroll you would like, such as one for stealth, one for damage, one from protection, etc. Then, PRESTO!, you have a new scroll. The exact power and effect will be random because the quill was not made for you. It also costs 50 coins for materials, but you should get good use from it. You will also find some interesting notes and clutter on the table.
There is another study area in the middle of the library. It holds more book containers and several chairs for studying.
On one shelf, you will also find a ship in a bottle crafted by STOTIS.
STORAGE ROOM
At the end of the south hall, you come to the door taking you to the storage room. This leads to another hall with two entries. The first opens to a room containing many silver-lined chests left by REAPER911 for your goods. You probably won't pay any attention to these, however, for your eyes will be drawn to a far table that is covered with stacks and stacks of gold bars!!!! It seems that the League came upon a haunted gold mine rumoured to have been owned by DAVID WHITEFANG in their travels and stole the gold bars from it. This is what actually paid for the renovations done to the mansion. There is a LOT of gold left. You will never go broke again, but since this mansion requires you to be a very high level to defeat the rest of the League, you are probably already rich. If not consider yourself either extremely lucky or a cheater.
You will also find a special set of scales made by the famed crafter DAVID WHITEFANG. The League uses to weigh its riches. It, too, holds riches because it's a container. This is surrounded by two small open chests for you to display your own goods.
Once you stop drooling over all that glittering, gleaming gold you notice a gated tunnel to your left. You carefully make your way down it and discover a system of caves leading to the Conjurer's Lair.
The second room in this area holds all the food for the mansion. KORANA has provided numerous bags, crates, plates and other containers of food for your consumption. There is a wine press that she's also constructed that will make a special wine every few days and a milk container that will give you milk. DAVID WHITEFANG also has some containes of food here.
CONJURER'S LAIR
Down the passage, you come to a door. It's marked with the dread symbol of Oblivion. You open it to reveal a room drenched in blood red light. You hear a hum and crackle that is all too familiar. It's an Oblvion gate and before it stands a host of daedra and the traitorous Elhazred, the conjurer of the League of Champions. They all attack!
The gate will take you to an Oblivion Plane. There is a conjuring scroll that will randomly change the plane when you activate it. There is also a book that will teach you the Invisible Stalker spell. It summons an invisible creature to slay your enemies. DIANNE has created a set of Daedric furniture for your comfort and you will also find a few respawning Oblivion loot containers.
The room is lined with Daedric statues that give off an eerie shine provided by Stotis.
It's recommended that you try the Lifelike Daedric Statues mod by OldWolf to make the satuary a sight to behold.
ARMORY
You move down one hallway and come to another door. It leads to an armory. The heat of the forge immediately wafts out when you step through. Before you stand a number of suits of armor and racks of weapons forged by OMEGACRON. These are containers for your armors and weapon. The ones that begin with the word "MY" are safe containers for your items. The containers marked as "NEWLY CRAFTED" respawn things that the blacksmith, Valdus, crafts for you. You can activate the Anvil of CHJOCO15 for static repair work, and are astounded that you don't have to carry repair hammers around! The forge itself serves as a trash container that will burn away your items in a few days (depending on your respawn time). There are a few tool shelves on the walls from KORANA, as well, and these hold tools for Valdus.
NEW
Valdus is the mansion armorer. At first, he will not be very friendly to you, being worried about what might happen if the rest of the League finds out he's been talking to you. If you keep pestering him, he may even attack you. You cannot raise his disposition through the minigame, but as you start slaying the traitors, he will become nicer to you. The more of his captors you kill, the nicer he will be, even lowering his prices for you. He will repair your armor, teach you how to repair armor and weapons, and he buys and sells armor and weapons.
INDOOR POOL
Past the armory, you come to the pool room. There you can relax in the cool, crisp water, or sit in a comfy chair and watch your companions dressed in their mini bikinis have fun.
NECROMANCER'S HAUNT
At the end of the hall you come to an ominous door with a skull carved above it by HORIN F. You enter it and immediately smell the stench of death. You stand in a large and mostly empty chamber. Several shuffling and floating shapes make their way towards you. Behind them, you hear the voice of Aleister commanding them to attack. Try as you might, you cannot see the necromancer. Is he invisible? After a tough fight, you come to examine your environment.
There are several static torture devices placed around it by CONIFER. There is what appears to be a small pulpit wherein some dark knowledge would have been taught. On its podium sits a dreadful book written by GHOGIELS. It is bound in human flesh and inked in blood. It is the Necronomicon and it gives you a Reanimation spell. Past that is a small, but ghoulish, table covered in evil books.
Past the table is a dark workstation created by HORIN. It silently speaks of forbidden arts as you stare in dumbfounded fear at what sits upon it. There is the encased head of a long dead sorcerer. When you touch it, the head speaks to you and will either grant you some of its power or steal some of yours. Next to it, the mage's heart still beats. Touching it refreshes you and increases your health, but do not do it too often...There is a book between the two that tells the sorcerer's tale.
Beside this work station is the necromancer's chest, a unique storage container crafted by HORIN, scary enough to frighten off any would-be thieves.
You walk further and come to a table with four chairs. These are all gruesomely crafted by HORIN. Upon it like some open books written by MEOS. One of them has the power to turn you into a ghost should you wish. This will make you invulnerable, but it constantly damages your health until you return to your body. There are four empty chalices on the table that are
There are some abominable shelves for your dark trophies and a smaller table with two more chairs. Two more unique books lie there.
Finally, your eyes rest upon the most horrific sight you've ever seen. It is another throne carved by DIANNE, but it looks like it was made by Death itself. Dead bodies and body parts lie strewn around it. There is a small pedestal in front of it, and it holds a severed head frozen in eternal misery. Touching it, you are healed, as if you have drained the very life force of this unfortunate soul.
WIZARD'S TOWER
From this creepy place of death, you teleport up to the Wizard's Tower, the very workroom of Jun and every Septim wizard before him. You instantly appear there, standing upon a great carpet depicting the caduceus, symbol of magic in twelve worlds. Instantly, you hear a horrible screech and you see the nightmare lich of Agrippa waiting for you. It is a tough battle, the toughest yet, but you come out the winner. You turn to survey the area. The room is as big as the necromancer's haunt, but it's filled with stuff.
Beside you are two shelves of scrolls (one respawning and one for your personal storage marked My Scrolls). There is a desk with a book on Ayleid magic on it. If you read it, you can attempt to harness some ancient Ayleid magic. The result is totally random because you are not accustomed to such power, so it could be helpful or it could be harmful. You could gain a bonus to your attributes or skills or you could suffer the results of your hubris for messing with such power.
Behind the desk and scattered throughout the chamber are book shelves and piles of books. They are containers holding rare, valuable and mysterious books.
There is a custom container for your staves and two containers for your stones and robes.
Past these you find two containers that fill up with mysterious ingredients. Next to them is a container marked as a grinder for many of these ingredients. Close inspection reveal the mysterious letters COBL on all three of these items.
There is an Alchemy Table surrounded by three containers. One is for your poisons, one is for your potions and one is for your ingredients. Beyond them lies two crates of respawning potions. Two shelves hold several empty glass alchemical vials, bottles and paraphenalia brought in by STROTIS.
The Alchemy Table holds several things to play with. To your left there are plates of salts, spores, powders, and cultures that respawn random items that do different things when ingested. Some can help and some can hurt so be careful. Oops! Someone spilled a vial of sticky goo. Should you try to clean it up?
There is a new set of alchemy equipment crafted by STROTIS, and to your right there is an apparatus that will make an alchemy experiment for you once per day. You won't be able to tell what this does until you drink it, so be careful! You may end up with super strength, maybe, or you may end up glowing like a lantern. Do you want to play mad scientist?
There is a mage station where you can enchant items AND make spells. It is also inscribed with the mysterious letters COBL.
Then there is another station holding a microscope and a statuette of a dragon holding a black crystal ball. The microscope was fashioned ages ago by STROTIS and it holds the key to curing vampirism. You can look into the Crystal Ball of GIZMOODIAN and find out lots of things dependant upon your Mysticism skill. You can see the location of secret treasures, learn new spells or increase your skills. It'S effects are provided by GRIMNISMAL.
Next, there is another table full of scrolls and a very large emerald. The former are the Wisdom Scrolls of Thoth that will give you divine wisdom every day, and the Book of Thoth, which talks about the emerald. See below in the section marked APOTHEOSIS.
There are two pedestals from which clusters of great crystals grow. You can break a Welkynd Stone off of one cluster and a Varla Stone off of the other, but only once per day, they need time to grow back.
Lastly, there is another of DIANNE'S fine thrones and this one is imbued with great crystal power. These restore your magic when you touch them.
REMEMBER: As you experiment with the items in the Wizard's Tower, you may be given a nice little enhancement of some kind, or you may suffer some sort of malady when it goes wrong. The Spoilers text has information on what could happen to you if you do not like surprises.
WARRIOR'S TRAINING CHAMBER
This large room was the favorite of the League's warrior, UG, and this is where you will still find him. Be careful, he is strong and deadly with an axe. If you manage to dispatch him, you will notice a large raised dais in the center of the room with many floor buttons. Each of these buttons summons up a random monster, but they are divided into monster types. There is one for undead, one for daedra, one for mythical, etc. These work off of the Levelled Lists, so that means you can even fight creatures from WAC, MMM, OOO, or any other mod that alters the Levelled Lists. There is an Altar of Healing that you can use as much as you want and there is an Altar of Protection that will give you 100% Resist Normal Weapons and 100% Resist Magic so you can train without having to worry about dying, such a pesky irritation for heroes. If you just want to watch your companions fight, or may pit one set of creatures against another, there is an altar that bestows 100% chameleon and invisibility so you can quietly sit on your throne and watch the action.
There are some respawning weapon racks here, as well.
THIEVES' DEN
There is a spceial container somewhere in the Mansion. You can store stuff in it, or you can push a button in the back, accessed via menu, and the back will swing open to take you into the hidden Thieves' Den. This is a smallish room used by the League's rogue, Cheney, who is always hiding in there. Cheney would be just as notorious as the Grey Fox, except that he is smart enough not to let himself become a living legend. He has several open chests filled with gold and jewels that he stole from DAVID WHITEFANG, but his greatest stolen treasureS are the Imperial Crown Jewels. Crafted many years ago for the Imperial line by KHUGAN, these exquisite pieces of work are some of the most valuable things in Cyrodiil. There is a crystal crown, a sceptre, and some gold chalices. They went missing years ago, thanks to Cheney, and no one knows he did it, not even Jun! They are so valuable and so well known, however, that you may be hard pressed to sell them.
One of his chests is packed full with disguises. Wear one and people will associate you with that particular faction. Disguise yourself as one of the Imperial Legion, a town guard, a bandit, a conjurer or any other useful faction.
There are also some special locked chests in here that relock after you pick them so you may practice your burglary skills.
ASSASSIN'S LAIR
This is the resting spot for Chaostica, the half-argonian assassin of the League. It includes a leather couch and chair, fireplace, and table. Chaostica likes the Gothic look, so he purchased some Gothic supplies crafted by GIZMODIAN, including dragon candle-holders, tall candle holders, and other cool stuff. He has is a cabinet that spawns poisoned food for you, but not just apples, there are meats, vegetables, cheeses, and others, as well. His favorite item, however, will meet you as you enter the room. It is a statue of a Manticore, a creature that has a lion's body, a human-beast head, bat wings and a scorpion tail. It was specially crafted by VFB so that when you press a secret button, the statue opens up before you revealing a hidden compartment in the base for all of your most hidden treasures. Cheney isn't the only one keeping secrets!
DISPLAY ROOMS
There are two large display room s for your treasures. These include several vanilla display cases, plus some carried over from WILLYSEA'S Ancient Towers, made specially for bows, swords and other pieces. There are pedestals for your mannequins and many other places to show of your loot.
GARDENS
You step out of the Mansion to a beautiful garden island. Immediately before you lies a path that circles the isle and ahead you see a veranda where you can sit and look at the scenic veiw. This ramada is furnished with specially constructed furniture created by the Elven crafter CSS 0101. There is also a telescope crafted by STOTIS that overlooks the sea. When you activate it, you will get your horoscope from the stars. This will tell you what kind of day you are about to have, maybe it will be lucky (Luck bonus), good for buying or selling (Mercantile bonus), unlucky, (Luck penalty), low energy, (Fatigue penalty), or one of many other possible horoscopes that will last throughout your day.
The path takes you to the Warrior's Training Chamber, but along the way you will cross quaint bridges and view abundunt flora and fauna. Watch out, some creatures might not be so nice. Many have escaped the Training Chamber and now roam the once peaceful island. Note that these spawn from Levelled Lists, so if you have modded monsters, you can meet them here, as well.
NEW QUEST: APOTHEOSIS
New in this mod is the quest for apotheosis, an act of becoming a god or goddess. It is not a quest with stages, but is instead accomplished through completing certain vanilla quests and repenting for any evil deeds your character may have committed in an act of purification.
On a table in the Wizard's Chamber, read the Book of Thoth for some background and then activate the Emerald Tablet beside it. You will likely come upon a message telling you that you do not meet a certain requirement. There are a LOT of requirements to achieve godhood, so you will have to complete each one before moving on. This is a purification process for your character, for only those possessed of Divine virtues can achieve a Divine status. The Tablet is not always black and white about what you need to do, but there are hints in the Book of Thoth (and the Spoilers).
Once you complete your purification, someone or something will appear. This Manifestation will be like nothing you ever seen before. Do not adjust your
monitor when it appears...
This being will offer you the Philosopher's Stone, the key to immortality. This item gives you great power for as long as you have it. You will also be able to choose what kind of god you wish to be, with your choice granting you a specific set of natural abilities.
As a deity, most people will recognize you as such, but some won't. Maybe they don't like any new upstarts in the Nine Divines, or maybe they haven't
heard the word yet. Some may pray to you, and you can bless them according to your sphere of influence, or, should someone anger you, you may
curse them in order to get them to learn a lesson.
Just so I don't disappoint you, I will tell you that you cannot become a god of war or have control of any thing that is already ruled by a divine or
daedra. There are four choices, and each one fills a niche that I think is empty. I tried to cover all the lore to make sure I wasn't doubling up by
making you god of the sky like Kynareth or assassins like Nocturnal.
If you manage to obtain the Philosopher's Stone, hold onto it, for it is the key to your godhood. Should you ever set it down, you will lose your divine nature forever and reassume a mortal's struggle. Would there be any reason you would ever want to do this? Perhaps, there is...
