Ok my reputation has 3 listings: Goodsprings and Novac (at idolized) and NCR at neutral. I had been vilified by Power Gangers and the Legion (I did after all clear out Cotton Wood Cove) But those are now gone; and I have not helped either faction in a way where my rep should have improved. But that is not my misunderstanding. What I am not getting is why NCR MP's are attacking me on sight. I go to Camp Forlorn to talk to the Major for the Restoring Hope mission. He talks to me everyone in the tent talks to me. Walk outside an MP sees me and my gang (Ed-e and Boone) and suddenly is the shootout at the OK corral!?! What gives? I go to the airport which is NCR HQ practically. The rangers are all civil to me, go into the terminal everything is fine. Go outback to return to the radio tower. There is a NCR guard on a tower next to the radio tower who starts shooting at me. I generate right at the entrance for the airport, there is a caravan guard, caravan trader and a NCR guard. The caravan guard opens up on me and my guys. The trader and the NCR guard stand there and watch!?!?!? What meeting did I miss that has MP's and caravan guards out to kill me and how do I fix it?

Faction clothing perhaps?

Some NPC's hate companions. i was at the hoover dam with ED-E and the quartermaster wouldn't stop shooting at ED-E. so leave your companions behind, and equip different armor.

OK my bad I forgot to mention I am wearing NCR Armour

The wiki notes that some "guards" can see through your faction armor, so perhaps NCR MPs are designated as "guards" and attack you as if you were a hostile trying to be in disguise..?

Have you worn any other faction armor recently? And perhaps you repaired it while wearing it? I've heard this causes a bug where the game thinks you're still wearing it. So you might need to find more of that faction's armor, put it on, take it off again.

OK something to follow up on: I am now accepted by the NCR. I have access to the NCR Emergency Radio. I call for a Ranger follower; the BI**H attacks me!!!!??? WTF I had Boone and dismissed him. Had Ed-e and dismissed him. Still I got attacked by the Ranger I as sending for?!?! What on earth am I missing

Are you wearing NCR or other faction armor? The ranger may be hostile if you are wearing the wrong faction armor - likewise he may bug and attack if you are wearing NCR armor since it forcefully sets your NCR rep at Neutral, too low to "correctly" use the Radio.

That is strange. I got attacked by the NCR when I went to Helios One with Veronica. I was liked by the NCR and I had already completed "That Lucky Old Sun". I fast traveled to Helios One and all of a sudden the NCR troopers turn hostile. :shrug:

use the radio wtf? I am wearing NCR armor and I am currently "accepted" Why is the ranger I am calling attacking. They previously did not attack. I got Ranger at the Ready and had a fourth team member!?!?

That can happen when you gained access to the place via picking the lock on the side door, rather than speaking to the woman outside to gain entrance. So when you go back they attack. I'm not sure if it's a bug or not...most likely, but not sure.

I did not pick any locks to Helios. IN fact it was only upon my return to Helixos that my companions attacked the named character; only to have the other NCR stand around and watch. In fact upon my return to H with a request for a NCR ranger did things go south for me. I had to kill my follower (the NCR ranger) and then request a NCR Trooper (who by the by does not follow me anywhere). I had to first kill my NCR Ranger then fast travel to a neutral sight then back to a NCR Radio site where I could request a NCR trooper (who would not attack me; he would not follow me but at least he would not attack em)

This is STUPID.

Relations are bugged. I had random relations disappear from pip boy as if I newer encountered that faction. Happened with Powder Gangers and Legion. Legion also became hostile suddenly without reason. And no, I did not have faction armour on me.

Other people have experienced similar bugs. Like friendly factions been hostile suddenly, but only in certain locations and so on.

I in fact did. And to the best of my memory i had legion armour in my possession, but never wore it and I might have repaired it; i'm not sure. And even if I did I have no idea which version it was (i.e. recruit) and does it matter or is finding any legion armour good enough. Therefore I I did not consider this a likely scenario.

I don't think it matters what particular armor of the faction. Just put it on and take it back off. Worth a shot.

I don't remember where I read it, but I read that some NPCs will attack Ed-E if he is carrying food or drink...

Could be wrong but can't hurt to investigate. I've used Ed-E as a floating cooler for my drinks and have had him randomly attacked by NPCs in much the same way you describe.
