*** OBLIVION MODS FAQ ***

Post » Wed May 26, 2010 4:54 pm

Not sure where to ask this and since it may or may not be a good addition to the FAQ depending on whether or not I can read...

Is there any way to get past the vanilla cap on ~255 active mods? Like other then merging mods in Wrye Bash but through some other utility (or Wrye Bash itself). I'm fast approaching the cap and would love to be able to add more mods, and have heard of people having 300+ active mods (thought if they were merged via Wrye Bash, they didn't say).

You can merge some using WryeBash. For the rest you need TES4Gecko.

Why is the Oblivion Downloads site down? Any idea when it will be back up?

It's been down for a very long time now. No word on when it'll be back up.

I would like to request / suggest the FAQ expand to include a guide on PyFFI optimization, and of 'cleaning' of mods. Speaking as someone who was on Oblivion hiatus when those two fixes came around (as far as I can tell, at least) all the threads explaning what they are, and how to properly do them, have mostly been culled. PyFFI has a thread remaining, but all the threads it points to for further information have been culled. Such problems cry out for a sticky post, such as an addition to the already wonderful FAQ :)

Just a thought.

I can't get mods to show up. I'm using Windows Vista/Windows 7
For those having problems, you might want to refer to information found http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index.php/Windows_Vista on the CS Wiki

Are you able to at least say whether you guys are still trying to have the DLC back up for sale individually on your website, or have given up on it?

It's been ten months and no explanation why. Steam is able to have the game up with all DLC(but you have to buy it all together, not good for people who only want one DLC - eg those who have the KotN retail disc and want the Fighter's Stronghold), but you don't have it on your own website. What's up with that?

I will be removing the reference entirely. No point in including a dead link.

EDIT: It's now TESNexus. All the links have been updated.

Not quite, I've one more 'dead' link for you, it seems I can't have access to any download link for the Oblivion Mod Manager.

EDIT: The only link now working for the http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2097 is on TES Nexus.

Hmm, not really sure where else to post this. There's no subforum for mod questions. xD

I was wondering if someone could help me out with almost everything. Perhaps tell me what I should do to get my mods to work right.
I'm not sure how to get race mods to work right, and I think I have some compatibility issues. Though, sometimes when I only use one mod at a time, they still don't work.

I forget where I was supposed to post my list in OBMM if I was having issues, so I thought "what risk would it be to post something like this in a FAQ thread?"
Searched for the answers, but unable to find any that help.

So, if anyone is willing to help, or chat it up about how to use the OBMM right, thank you.

A lot of the mods listed in the guides have broken links, was it always like this? A lot of the listed mods looked interesting, hope I don't have to manually search for each one =I

I've also notice that and I think this thread is falling a part. I hope someone can update this FAQ thread. :)

I can provide a http://tesivpositive.animolious.com/ link but also a mod http://search2.yacoby.net/ as well. I hope that makes it a little easier for you.

The policy of thread purging on this forum goes on my nerves more and more. Especially when you have links from CS Wiki that point to threads full of useful information that have long been deleted.

Hey guys I'm new to modding and have a very noobish question (however not answered specifically by the FAQ). Anyways, my dilemma is this: Ive been wanting to get into modding for a long time now (I am a console gamer and tired of reading about the numerous advantages of PC gaming), so I bought a cheap used Oblivion for the PC, conscientious of the fact that the only PC available to me (that is capable of running it smoothly) doesnt have access to internet.

So, due to the fact that downloading mods requires internet, would it be possible to download them from my laptop and import them on to the PC using an external hard drive or USB? The prospect seems plausible to me, but I could be missing some essential aspect due to my little knowledge of PC gaming in general. Again, I bought the PC Oblivion mainly for mods. I have completed everything possible in vanilla Oblivion and am simply looking to freshen the experience.

As a second question, if my first question is in fact possible, would large mods such as OOO or FCOM work using that method? Im not looking for specific mods to change small details. Im mainly interested in large mods that drastically improve the game.

Any helpful info would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

OK i dont know if it's the good forum for ask a question about a problem with the mod and my english can be not very good (im french). ok here my problem: I have download some mod and install it in the good way and i have activated them but when i'm in the game the mods not work.. exemple i have install a castle mod (Eltz castle) and it's not working, the castle are not here. That append with other mod but some 1 works. So i dont know what to do?? i have try to install it again (for check if i have not install well). The mods who are working it's the mod i've install in my other game before i've uninstall oblivion (some, not all). i was having too much mod so i have deleted all but i have deleted some thing who come with the game (some meshes, texture, etc) so i have uninstall it and install it again but i had the same problem that im explaining here so i uninstall it again.but i come sometimes see the new mods and i have see some who seem to be very good so i've install oblivion again. So pls if u know what i need to do (install a patch,do a modification, etc) pls tell it to me.

I use obmm at the moment but I,am not sure what to do with the ooo installation.
Maybe someone can help me out?

The problem is that I,ve downloaded the ooo 1.33 omod ready archive and the 1.34 beta patch.
so I created the omod of the ooo 1.33 ( added the archive + importing omod conversion data and [censored] like that).
But when I,ve created the omod of the ooo 1.33 (without the 1.34 beta patch) the obmm conflict indicator (little square before the mod name) is red (means that there is a major conflict).
Should I still install it and ignore the conflicts ( so I can maybe solve it later with the bashed patch of wrye bash) or should I do something else?
Plzzzzz help me out !!??!!?!?!?!
