I'm doing "I Could Make you Care" quest and at the end when i go to the Followers Of The Apocalypse outpost im greeted by the Brotherhood Of Steel and i was wondering if anyone has done this quest and what gun and type of ammo did you use cuz at the moment i am useing the assult carbine with Armor piercing ammo but it dosent seem to work that well cause i usally die before i get though one of them.I don't have power armor yet and i was thinking it be a good armor to have on this quest but idk.so if anyone could let me know what they where useing during that quest it be appreciated thank you

Small Energy Cell

No, I'm not joking.

One of the three items you could get for that quest would make mincemeat of power-armored foes.

word when you say small energy cell do you mean a small energy wepon like a laser pistol or plasma pistol or is small energy cell a type of ammo because i have not came across it yet if it is but then agian i usally not lookin for energy cells lol

If you're using "guns", a sniper rifle with HP / AP / handload should work.
As should a Brush gun with HP, or a Trail carabine with swc ( if you have the perk ).
A hunting rifle, with the same as the sniper ( except HP ).
A hunting shotgun with slugs is great, works like a charm ( bette with shotgun surgeon perk ).
Anti material rifle on its own any ammo.

These are the most common weapons that will take down deathclaw mothers, a paladin stands no chance.

Give Veronica a displacer gauntlet / glove, it minces PA very quickly, just make sure it's in good condintion and she has no other weapons in her inventory.

Or you can use the pulse gun still, as its power-armor-toasting powers are regardless of E-weaps skill.

I had the Q-35 and reinforced combat armor.

Pulse Gun is what I was hinting at. Two hit kill against all true power armored foes and any robot. If you are VATS specialized killing all four paladins in one combat round should be possible.

I don't think hollow point ammo against power armor is that efficient.

If you land a critical hit, from a high damage gun, they'll work fine. This is due to the extreme damage figures HP rounds will rack up under these conditions makeing the 3xDT penalty nearly meaningless. Playing around with a brush gun loading with HP ammo I killed Veronica wearing a full set of T-51b with a normal critical hit to the torso. Yeah, it even surprised me at the time.
