dmg = damage done per shot.
dps = damage done per second of firing.

Some guns shoot slow, others shoot a spray of gunfire very fast.

DPS is Damage PER SECOND.

So Damage is the ammount of damage you inflict with each projectile against a target with no damage resistance.

DPS=Damage x the number of projectiles fired in a second when the weapon is firing at its cyclic rate.

dps stands for damage per second not shot. if its higher than damage it means your gun shoots more than one shot every second.

.... DPS means Damage Per Second?...
The unique Gauss Rifle does around 79 in DAM but it's DPS is 230 something.
Now, how the hell can it do 230 damage per second when it takes 2 seconds to reload the damn thing?
I hate that damn DPS thing... Makes no sense to me. :(

the formula for dps is the total ammount of time(in seconds) it takes to reload your gun, and empty a clip of ammo divided by the ammount of damage dealt if every bulelt in one clip meets its taget. heres a good example

a assault rifle has 30 bulelts in it and each does 20 dmg each. it takes 3 seconds to empty the clip and 2 seconds to reload

the damage per clip is 600, and the total time to reload and empty the clip is 5 seconds. damage per second is equal to damage divided by time

there for the dps is equal to 600/5 or 120 dps.'

dps is totlly theoretical becuase in any rpg some of the damage will be neated by armor and in any game you will miss a couple shots
