Are there silencer mods for any of the shotguns?

I'm guessing no, because that would just be to cool. But figured I'd ask.

Of course!

See, the tribal makes noise, then you use your shotgun, and the tribal is now silent!

See, it's a shotgun silencer!

Ok before a rampage of replies insinuating that silenced shotguns are impractical, 1. This is a fantasy game 2. There are such things as silencers for shotguns in the real world.

in real life you can get a supressor for most calibers, even shotguns, but you dont call them silencers becuase no "silencer" can completly "silence" a gun even if the BANG noise is completly silenced you still hear the gun parts move, so gun sence says yes there is a silencer for the shotgun

Mmm hmm. Show me one that isn't fixed in a gunsmith shop, or you saw in a movie.

EDIT: that's intended for buck! Yea, you could 'silence' it if you were firing darts or slugs...

(if by silence you mean half as loud, but still blow your eardrum)

Ok I'm assuming no is the answer. No reason to "ignore" the part of my reply that states this is a fantasy game. MW 2 was trying to be realistic and they had silencers for their shotguns. But in the FO universe that just wouldn't be plausible.........ok.

MW2 and realistic in the same sentence!? :whistling:

I'm not disagreeing regarding the fantasy part, just the other one.

AFAIK there are no shotgun silencers in FNV. If you're on PC, it wouldn't be too bad for someone with some NIF skills to add one in.

Yeah I'll get the PC version at a later date. There was a silenced shotgun mod for FO3 I used a lot. FYI I'm not saying MW 2 was realistic, its what the developers said. As for the other part here are some links:

Ah, you can get practical 9mm and .45 ammo in subsonic loads so no sonic boom, then set the pistol up to lock the slide (effectively single shot) so you wont even hear the slide slam back. Pretty quiet.

You could probably get a silencer on a rifled barrel shotgun, then load some sub-sonic slug shells, and pump so no slide noise just the striker hitting the primer. If you had a work bench and reloading setup available in game, and the approriate gunsmithing skill.

Oh, wait, all three of those are available in FO:NV...

Common sense ninja's head would propably explode upon the knowledge that the Weapon Mod Kits mod, that NV's weapon modification system was inspired by, allowed silencing revolvers. But as i keep saying, if i wanted realism i'd go see a doctor. And i ain't gonna go see a doctor :P

Actually, there's two issues why it won't/doesn't work in the real world:

1. Calibre. Shotgun bores are simply too large to make suppression viable;
2. Most, if not all shotgun ammo these days is carried in a cup like wad, with the exception of some rifled s/guns which are really only intended to fire slug which actually makes them a rifle, in any case. As soon as the wad leaves the barrel proper, it starts to open out, and would then rip apart any suppressive dampers in a suppressor/silencer.

I was only mentioning it because it allows silencers on shotguns. So pull your panties outta your ***.
