How much of your first character have you already planned ou

Post » Sun Jun 27, 2010 7:48 pm

Now, Im not sure if he will be my first character (i might be tempted to do a stereotypical Nord warrior first), but he is definitely going to be one of my mains.

What is your characters race, six, size and shape
Male Breton. Short, perhaps a bit of a wine belly. Magnificent beard of grey or white.
How much you will focus on using weapons, and what weapon type you want to use more.
Little to none. Physical labor is tedious.
How often you will use magic, and for what purpose?
All day, every day. It's the most noble of arts.
How often you will use stealth?
As little as possible. Illusions should get me past most obstacles a common theif you need to sneak past.
How often you will resort to combat?
Only as often as people get in my way. I will stand for no amount of disrespect.
What will be your moral stance? (As in what laws you have no problem breaking?)
Its not so much a matter of laws as it is a matter of science. Sometimes discovery requires breaking some rules.
How often you will rely on enchanted items?
How often do you rely on oxygen? Nitwit...
And potions?
And water?
And, if it's your thing, you can tell your characters story (like how they ended up in Skyrim and why they are about to get pwnd by an Executioner).
Some people are so uncultured! It seems all sarcasm is lost on them. To think they would really beleive a powerful sorceror like me would need to resort to necromancy....

First, I'm going to thank the guys that used my OP as a form to fill out, because I'm so ADD I already forgot what I asked.

Second:

My second character will be another Khajiit named J'Zad who will be as big as they come
Who only likes the weapons that everyone else has problems using right (as in, as close to a Cathay-Rhat as possible)
Who sees the way of the mage for those that can't stand real battle,
And sees the use of the shadows as the art of a coward.
Who will be one of quick temper and happily reaches for his weapon.
Who sees survival as the only exception to any rule or law.
Who promised that the innocent shall never see his blade.
Who laughs at those that rely on enchanted items.
But can see the gravity of having a few ampules of healing potions.

Amazingly, I actually took the time to give this guy a backstory:
The older of two brothers, J'Zad served as part of the Mane's Honor Guard for seven years, until he was shamed when an Altmar mage triumphantly presented his brother in a near-dead state, obvious that magic (and the mage) was the culprit, even to J'Zad, who had never encountered magic in his young life. In a spell of blind fury, J'Zad swung his halberd with enough force to break through the spells and enchantments of the elf's robe almost completely annihilated him. Arrested and faced with execution, J'Zad was miraculously given a lesser punishment by the Mane: Exile. Due to the succession of Elsweyr, J'Zad's crime carried no weight with him to Cyrodiil, where he wandered for the better of 3 years as a famous and powerful warrior for hire, mainly working for the remnants of the Fighters Guild. Eventually, the Khajiit was forced to face facts: His contacts were hearing rumors of lucrative contracts with the brewing tensions in Skyrim, and were pulling up roots and moving to various locations in Skyrim, primarily Solitude. J'Zad, not content with a simple job as some shop keep or store hand where he would undoubtedly lose a considerable amount of his strength and skill to boredom and monotony, attempted to jump the border into Skyrim, with the intention of reaching Falkreath. Unfortunately, he was arrested and confused with a serial killer, and slated for execution in an unknown city.

What is your characters race, six, size and shape?
Argonian, most likely Male, small & thin.

How much you will focus on using weapons, and what weapon type you want to use more.
Support. Undecided.

How often you will use magic, and for what purpose?
High focus. Illusion Magic.

How often you will use stealth?
Infrequently, Illusion magic helps eliminate this.

How often you will resort to combat?
Only when threatened. Could change based on development.

What will be your moral stance? (As in what laws you have no problem breaking?)
Originally young and naive, but there is confusion and anger involved which may manifest into violence.

How often you will rely on enchanted items?
Scavenge them from enemies.

And potions?
Most likely.

And, if it's your thing, you can tell your characters story (like how they ended up in Skyrim and why they are about to get pwnd by an Executioner).

(NAME) was born a Paraplegic somewhere in the Imperial City. Unable to care for the child, the parents abandoned the young Argonian in the forest when they could no longer tolerate his condition. The young reptillian crawled and stumbled about in confusion until he came across a statue in disrepair. The child collapsed, Thinking the ground he laid upon would be his resting place. Before he slipped out of consciousness, he was contacted by Daedric prince. The Prince healed his afflictions and sent the once pitiful creature on his way. Ironically and unknown to him, the Daedric Prince was his own ancestor from many years past. This was his inspiration to become both a Deadra worshipper and an Illusionist. In combat, he realized that the vulnerability he once felt could be projected onto others by paralyzing and demoralizing them. His training ended when he was thrown into jail for the "second-hand murder" of a guard through an accident with a frenzy spell beyond (NAME)'s control, but his status as a Daedra worshipper did not help his defense. He was being shipped up to Skyrim so that the Nordic father of the guard could view his execution.
THEN STUFF HAPPENS

What is your characters race, six, size and shape (I think you can customize that this time around)
Dunmer male, tall and lanky

How much you will focus on using weapons, and what weapon type you want to use more.
Mainly one handed blades. He'll cary around dual longswords, and a hunting dagger.

How often you will use magic, and for what purpose?
Not as much as stealth/combat. But destruction and illusion/or conjuration will be focused on.

How often you will use stealth?
When i have to. I'll master the bow, if that counts.

How often you will resort to combat?
Depends.

What will be your moral stance? (As in what laws you have no problem breaking?)
Cynical ass type. Neutral - Good. I'll try to stay out of the law when i can.

How often you will rely on enchanted items?
That's yet to be seen.

And potions?
Perhaps paralysis poisons for arrows, mammoth hunting and all.

And, if it's your thing, you can tell your characters story (like how they ended up in Skyrim and why they are about to get pwnd by an Executioner).
Well, Aaros Indoran was born in Blacklight, Morrowind, near the border, under Argonian influence. After the death of his parents at an early age, he set out around northern Cyrodiil, becoming an accomplished hunter and mercenary. After a job went wrong in Bruma, and a noble ended up dead at Aaros's hand, strings were pulled, and off to Skyrim we go.

What is your characters race, six, size and shape?: Orc/Nord (Can't make up my mind!), male with an athletic muscular build If i can.
How much you will focus on using weapons, and what weapon type you want to use more?: All the time, dual axes... mmmmm fresh meat!
How often you will use magic, and for what purpose?: Close to never, I might use a shrine of some sorts if I come across one.
How often you will use stealth?: Only when I need a better angle for choppin!
What will be your moral stance?: Once I am properly outfitted, I hope to butcher an entire town... I hope.
How often you will rely on enchanted items?: Unless I find one, I'm hoping to keep my axes sharp enough so that I don't need to worry about how much shock damage they're doing.
And potions?: Only when I find spares. No buying worthless liquids!

honestly I like inspiration on the fly. I like to look at everything that the devs have to offer and sit there for like 5-10 minutes deciding what I want. Tweak the character until I am satisfied. Though considering character creation is simple this time around I probably won't be spending too much time in it compared to some of their recent games. I won't plan anything out biography-wise until more has been released to us in terms of information.

I will most likely play a Khajiit male specializing in stealth. Mostly good, but does the occasional theft. Same as my first character in Morrowind.

I have two characters planned out to some extent... Not sure which I'll end up starting with; it'll probably depend on things like racial perks/abilities.

The first one: Essentially a port of Kvothe from Patrick Rothfuss's Kingkiller Chronicle.

- Imperial/Nord, male, slightly taller than average, slightly thinner than average, long red hair, green eyes.
- Weapons will be a moderate focus. I'll use a one-handed blade, something unique and well-made, without being too decorated.
- Magic will be the biggest focus, especially Restoration (Physickery) and Destruction (Sympathetic Binding).
- Stealth will be slightly less of a focus than weapons, but still will be used fairly often.
- I'll try to talk things through or avoid confrontation with people who are decent/honorable, but I won't hesitate to fight when necessary.
- Be kind to the poor and to all performers. Willing to steal to get by, but mostly in a "Robin Hood" capacity.
- Enchanted items will be used if they are superior to my other options, but I won't go out of my way to find the most powerful items; instead I'll rely on my stats. Exclusively uses light armor, and cloaks if possible.
- Might dabble in Alchemy a bit, for more Physickery... But won't hoard potions.

The second one: Upgraded build of my favorite character from Oblivion.

- High Elf, male, tall, average bulkiness, blond hair
- Pretty much excels at all three fighting styles. Uses a blade and heavy armor, complemented with Destruction and Illusion. Will also use Enchanting and Alchemy.
- Moral stance similar to the Man With No Name...
- Enchanted items will be a focus, and I'll try to keep a decent stock of potions/poisons as well.

I really enjoyed my Altmer build in Oblivion. He had a ton of Magicka, and his enchanted heavy armor made him extremely well protected against physical and magical attacks. Once I had achieved a mastery of blade, heavy armor, and destruction, I began to work on sneak and illusion, which changed the way he played, but made him even more powerful. I could dominate anyone with that guy... But at the same time, the Kvothe build isn't drastically different (still incorporates all three play styles), and he's based on one of my favorite characters in literature.

it's probably not a good idea to plan that much when you dont know exactly how the game will play [some Buddhist [censored] about binding] and you will just set yourself up for dissapointment
I'm probably going to be a buff imperial super mage with a taste for the finer things in life. sporting a big amulet and a robe/fur coat without a shirt on
I'll most likely be an opportunistic murderer. I like your boots, so I'll peel them from your corpse

I found my girlfriend cheating on me with an orc so I killed him with a destruction spell and used an illusion spell to make my girlfriend terrified just before I gutted her with the orc's axe

My character is going to be a Male Imperial, muscular and broad but not hulk type. He will be names Jamis (My catch all fantasy name)
How much you will focus on using weapons, and what weapon type you want to use more : My main focus will be weapons, sword and board type. However, now that axes aren't under "blunt" and its more 1h versus 2h axes may be thrown in there as well. Essentially one handed bladed weapons.

How often you will use magic, and for what purpose? Magic will be a rarity for my character, though some restoration will be used, a little bit of destruction maybe but far from the staple of his combat

How often you will use stealth? I will only use stealth if I am in a situation where it is far and away the best choice.

How often you will resort to combat? If the person confronting me is more misguided than "evil" I will use my silver tongue to persuade them to walk away. However, those evil SOB's will be smited in the blink of an eye

What will be your moral stance? My character would break little to no laws, with a few exceptions. If I need to say, break into a house to gain information on an opponent, I will do it. If I am down on my luck and need to steal little things (nothing major) I will do it, those sort of things.

How often you will rely on enchanted items? If I pick up a powerful enchanted item, I will use it. Though enchanting isn't so much my thing

And potions? You know, potions are something I dont normally pick up, I plan on trying my best to rely a lot on potions. I figure living in a land like skyrim, more back woods, potion making would be a key asset.

And, if it's your thing, you can tell your characters story I am still fleshing out my character right now, but I'm going to say what I have. My character is a young backwoodsman, no official training but through relatives and necessity he knows he way around an axe (maybe a little bit of swordplay from a guard uncle). I'm going with him being 20 years old (matching myself) . Jamis would have been on his way home when he noticed a shady figure lurking around a home near his grandparents, and took it upon himself to call on the guards. Turns out its the advlt child of a very influential figure in the region, who also happened to be a well known firebug (Mommy and daddy can cover up quite a bit). Well, that snot nosed weasel tried to raze his mothers house as well with some of his buddies, which ended up with Jamis ended up killing one of them in self defense. Well connected family and next thing you know hes on the green mile so to speak

GREAT thread. I've actually been thinking about this a lot.

What is your characters race, six, size and shape (I think you can customize that this time around)

Altmer, male, Name: Rando (a redguard name, more on that later)

How much you will focus on using weapons, and what weapon type you want to use more.

I plan on using bows and daggers extensively, but no other weapons.

How often you will use magic, and for what purpose?

I plan on using magic a lot. I will use the bow and dagger for stealth kills, but in a face-up fight with a monster right in my face, it's all magic. im going to focus on destruction, alteration, and illusion. I probably wont bother with restoration or conjuration at all.

How often you will use stealth?

i spent most of oblivion and fallout 3 sneaking. I'm sure i'll do the same thing in skyrim.

How often you will resort to combat?

all the time, I plan on kicking ass often.

What will be your moral stance? (As in what laws you have no problem breaking?)

I always play either a chaotic good or chaotic neutral character if I can. I'm just hoping that skyrim will be the end of psychic guards.

How often you will rely on enchanted items?

enchanted items usually make the best gear, and I will be very curious to try out the enchanting skill that i hear is in the game, so a lot.

And potions?

since i will be using daggers, i will use alchemy for poisons and also my primary healing.

And, if it's your thing, you can tell your characters story (like how they ended up in Skyrim and why they are about to get pwnd by an Executioner).

my character is a high elf born to a ruthless noble in Firsthold. deemed too weak to carry on the noble bloodline, the baby is cast away in the scrubland near the shore. the baby miraculously survives, floating on a piece of driftwood to Stros M'Kai. There, a Redguard couple, Asaja and Ruxin, adopt the child and name him Rando. Growing up on the tiny island of Stros M'Kai, especially as an adopted outsider, Rando develops a serious wanderlust. Gifted in magic as well as the ways of the redguard warriors who raised him to master the arts of armor and the dagger, he sets out for Skyrim, hoping to see the Throat of the World and start off his trip around all of Tamriel with a bang. The first night Rando crosses the border, he comes across the mutilated body of a young Nord woman just off the path. Weary from the blistering cold, fatigued, and hungry, Rando desperately rifles through the poor woman's pockets, hoping for a vial of water, some money, food, or maybe a potion, when a patrol of guardsmen approach and dismount.

Male Redguard, big, strong
Long sword and shield or dual wield short swords
Only use restoration magic (nearly every single character I make ever uses restoration)
He prefers to fight it out face to face than to stick to the shadows and stab people in the back
Whenever it feels like combat is the best solution, however sometimes it's better to talk things out
If something has to be done, laws are not the things to stop him from doing it. However he is not set out to be a criminal, just someone who doesn't mind breaking laws
Never. He prefers vanilla armour.
Never uses potions either.

Story: One of the best mercenaries in all of Tamriel. Will get any job done for the right price. Was hired to go to Skyrim, go to a man's house, kill him and take a sword of his. The whole thing turned out to be a set up and the man was actually the Emperor of Falkreath. Next thing he knew he was lined up to be executed..

What is your characters race, six, size and shape (I think you can customize that this time around)
A small, thin, male Bosmer.

How much you will focus on using weapons, and what weapon type you want to use more.
Bow and Arrow, and a silver dagger.

How often you will use magic, and for what purpose?
Illusion for charming the townsfolk and invisibility for sticky situations.
Restoration for fortifying Mercantile, healing myself and others.

How often you will use stealth?
Everytime.

How often you will resort to combat?
If it stands in my way, I will combat it.

What will be your moral stance? (As in what laws you have no problem breaking?)
If it means making gold, or taking their equipment, I will have to kill them. If they are persecuted by others, not me, then I will free them.
I will try to save my companions.

How often you will rely on enchanted items?
Not much, except for Zombies.

And potions?
Everytime.

And, if it's your thing, you can tell your characters story (like how they ended up in Skyrim and why they are about to get pwnd by an Executioner).
I was the one who assasinated the high king of Skyrim.
