Is it safe to go in the Armory Vault 34?

The easy thing to do is just create a seperate save file when your in Vault 34.

It's the smart thing to do. Creating a separate save before or right as you enter the Vault saves you from running into a toxic save, where you end up saving at a position where escape from the Vault in a time of high rad count becomes impossible. After that, there's probably not too much you can do, other than start over (at least on the consoles).

this is what was on fallout.wiki

"Saving inside the Overseer's office will result in a corrupted game save. Clear the Vault but do not enter the armory, unlock the armory from the Overseer's terminal, or save within the Overseer's office. You may go into the Overseer's office but can not save inside. The Armory is completely off limits until a patch resolves the problem. (Confirmed: once you use the Overseer's terminal. FATAL LOAD GLITCH)"

thats why i was wondering.

Interesting. I have gone to Vault 34 3 times (never on a quest and didn't know there was a quest for the place) and not once encountered a problem other than staying alive. It's a fun place and the All American is indeed the funnest gun in the game imo.

Take plenty of Rad meds and the respirator. You'll be fine.

My favorite weapon from Vault 34 is the Pulse gun. Take down bad robots in 2 second flat.

I've gone into Vault 34 on three different characters and looted the Armory on all three. I never saved in the Overseer's Office, and I've never had a problem. No game quests were active on any of the characters, just a personal one: Get the All-American. I'm on the 360.

A question about the DT penalty. The ammo says, I dunno, x3.0. Does that mean if I shoot a HP bullet at a target with 10 DT, dose the game calculate the hit on a 30 DT target then?

I didn't have the rebreather with me the second time I did it and was still able to do it but you have to be fast. It's much easier with it but you can still do what you need to do without it.

No problems here with vault 34. Twice Ive done that vault in two games without problems. Except maybe not knowing where to get enough radaway to cover my time in the vault. I did manage to get one security door unlocked, the other door to the armory wouldnt open for me in the overseers office. Something that was my doing I am sure being in a hurry not to die of rad posioning. Thought that it would be better to save up some rad away and head back in finish the quest..BUT I got the save bug before I could complete the vault both times.

I know land mines are ones freind in that vault with hollow point 357 on a fully repaired 357 handgun. Just lay the stairs with the things go out get the ghouls attention and let them take damage coming after me while pounding the rounds into them. Worked good for some areas to slow the ghouls down enough to get a good fatel shot off.

Thanks I didnt think of that one. I tried the radsuit dubbed..."come smash my brains out ghouls suit". Worked to keep the rads down not the ghouls from pounding me to meat.
Rebreather works good in that vault is something I will have to remember..if I can ever get the game to keep the saves long enough to get there again lol.

I recommend the Spacesuit from REPCONN Test Site. More rad resist and more DT than the radiation suit, and you can wear a helmet with it as well as the rebreather.

Stuff I take into Vault 34:

-Rebreather
-Space Suit
-10mm Pistol with all mods
-10mm SMG with all mods
-500 rounds of 10mm JHP hand loads
-30+ doses of RAD-X and RadAway
-Hunting Revolver, or Sequoia if I have it
-50-75 rounds of .45-70 Gov't HP ammo

The only "bug" I've ever had with that vault is the magical teleporting followers. Even leaving them at the Lucky 38 in wait mode they'll pop up in the vault at some point.

Although he is a damage sponge, I never found him an issue once the turrets are destroyed.

Yeah, The alien blaster is in my opinion too overpowered. I never use it other than house decoration. Took the overseer out Dirty Harry style!

PS: Go and get the All-American, it's a great anti-Gazador rifle. :gun:

That happened to me with Raul. I had him waiting in Novac and he just showed up in the middle of the Vault. I thought maybe the Vault was one of the parts of his personal quest, because I've noticed if you tell a companion to Wait (not fire them) but then hit one of their 'spots', they'll leave the room to start chasing after you so they can say their lines. Since I can see them on the map now, when it happens I find them and they say their spiel. But Raul never said anything. Just showed up in the Vault and started fighting.

I had the DLC / no device found bug after coming out of Vault 34. I saved in both the the overseer's office and the armory. After leaving the vault, I went over to a nearby quarry and killed a few deathclaws. I saved and shut down the XBox. When I tried to load the game later, the bug occurred. I ended up having to start a new game, which was a pain because I was at level 21.

I'm not sure this has anything to do with Vault 34, but until the patch is released, I'm staying out of there.

That's exactly how it works. You can further mitigate that penalty by going for the sneak attack. The Legendary Deathclaw, who has 35DT, is a single .45-70 HP round away from death when using a Ranger Sequoia on a sneak attack on normal difficulty.

As long as you don't save your game in the armory you'll be fine.

Didn't have any issues after looting the armory. Only thing for me was I missed the All American, went back a second time and it was no where to be seen! I went to the trusty wiki which advised me to check my companions' inventory as they might have picked it up. Boone was with me there, so I checked his inventory, and there it was! :)

He's a real fanatic when it comes to that All-American. He can have all kinds of weapons but that seems to be his favorite...as long as it's in good repair and he has enough ammo, which he eats like candy, I think. :D

He snatched it from me as well. Didn't even have him until the Armory (told him to "Wait Here" in Novac) and he came charging into the room and swiped my loot. <_<

I think Boone enjoys the rapid vibration/shake of the hard-kicking All-American. Maybe he thinks it'll shake rattle & roll his brain into forgetting what he can't forget. :whistling:

I just used the Q-35 matter modulator.

Is that anything like Marvin the Martian's "Q-36 Explosive Space Modulator"?

I didn't have any issues at all in Vault 34... Got the All-American and everything... I see the bug warning on wiki, but never experienced any issues myself.

Same, do it. It's worth it.

Hunting shotgun fully modded, with Veronica was my current favourite and easy way on HC normal.
I later got Cass, and gave her the same weapon with slugs, she eats through deathclaws and npc's die instantly in droves.
So one time I'll try that tag team on 34's ghouls, not for all american just some feral hunting.

As for bug's not had any, and I saved in the office constantly, as I do in every area.

This is what the Wiki said,
Behind the Scenes
The name is a reference to Marvin the Martian's "Eludium Q-36 Explosive Space Modulator" that he requires to complete his planet destroying weapon in the 1948 Looney Tunes episode, "Haredevil Hare."

But, it's only a unique Plasma Rifle.
