While I do prefer Dinner Bell. I don't like the 5 ammo limit, since I'm always plagued by the reload glitch.

I also prefer the Riot Shotgun.

The Dinner Bell has better damage and spread.
Since it's better than Riot Shotgun I don't see the point in picking the lesser variant.

For me, it's just not worth going through the Bleed Me Dry quest to get Dinner Bell.
That quest set was definitely a one-timer for me. I hate The Thorn and everything about it, so I don't even bother with the place anymore.
Just my preference.

The DAM difference is only minimal when you consider the Riot Shotguns high rate of fire, Hunting Shotgun is good for normal use, but if a Deathclaw comes sprinting at you, the Riot Shotgun can put out shells far faster than the Hunting Shotgun, and reloads quicker too. Everyone has personal things they look for in a weapon, might be DAM, DPS, Spread, Clip size or even the type of ammo it uses.

Exactlly.
I tend to work my way up through the shotguns as I level, breaking down shells as I need to for whatever gauge I am using at the moment.
Once I come across the riot shotgun, I sell my Hunting Shotgun (by then, most certainly modified) back to Gun Runners and never look back.
The way I play (maybe it's too much Resident Evil, LOL!) shotguns are CQC panic weapons, anyway.

Although I prefer the look of the hunting shotgun/dinner bell, the riot shotgun is the superior weapon. I entered caesar's tent once to kill him and the riot shotgun helped me mow down everone inside easily. With a hunting shotgun I would have been slaughtered after taking down one or two praetorians. Way too slow despite the slightly better damage.

I favor Diner bell. I don't know what it is about pump actions but i love em. The sound of the grip clicking back as you're last victim is crawling on the ground without a leg. To crazy or was it just right? hehe

The first shotgun I started using was a Riot shotgun.....I ended up ditching it for a modded Hunting Shotgun as I found it was a lot more more accurate. Got Dinner Bell but I didn't like it as much as the vanilla weapon with all mods. These days all I carry is a sniper rifle, hunting shotgun and Lucky.

. Sometimes I'll swap in the Lever-action Shotgun (where the hell is my unique Terminator variant of this Obsidian) just because it's awesome.

The lever action is sooo sweet. How they didn't put in a unique variant is beyond me.

Ummm... Dinner Bell has a choke already integrated.

Even with that it's still has a 33% wider spread than a Hunting Shotgun with the choke mod installed. That means less effective range with both Slugs and buckshot.

He's talking about the 'clip' tube.

IMO 3-round extra doesn't help much.

Hunting Shotgun with the long tube mod has a +60% advantage in ammo capacity and that's not important? Look at it this way, which shotgun will dish out more damage before going into that long, and seemly endless, reload phase. Yeah, it's going to be the moded hunting shotgun by 185 points and that's a 49% advantage.
