18 Skills: What are they?

Has everyone given up on the unarmoured skill?

I did. Custom enchanting your clothes to have Absorb/Reflect damage/magic spells is all you really need.

There are 21 skills I believe.

Acrobatics, Athletics, and Mysticism have been removed. 18 skills have been confirmed.

I hope speechcraft and mercantile have been merged, with mercantile perks, and perhaps a revival of Daggerfall's varieties (such as etiquette/streetwise). Since we know how many skills are in the game, it's just a question of which have been merged or removed, and these two have always seemed to be secondary - help skills that are beneficial, but too reactive to form a playing strategy around. At least for me, they're always among the least developed skills.

Is it confirmed that sneak is now called stealth? Perhaps this hints a merge with security? Security in previous games is also a somewhat reactive skill, dependent on how many locks you encounter (and unlike enemies, there is a finite number), although I think I'd prefer a merging of speechcraft/mercantile or heavy/light armor.

I don't think so. It's more likely to be Sneaking.

Here's my hunch:

Combat
1 Handed Weapons
2 Handed Weapons
Parrying
Smithing
Dual-Wielding
Armor

Magic
Restoration
Alteration
Destruction
Conjuration
Illusion
Enchanting

Stealth
Speechcraft
Hand-to-Hand (hopefully an emphasis on fast take-downs, not fist fights)
Stealth
Mysticism  (maybe Appraisal, where inherent value is obvious to the skilled)
Archery
Alchemy

I really don't like the fact that things are 1h/2h as opposed to the actual style of weapon. I enjoy having the ability to run through some stuff with a dagger and then clear a cave with a 2h sword, to change it up a bit.

@Ectoplasm
I like that idea, merch and speech were so similar. It would be a waste not to merge them.

Anybody think they might incorporate a skill that may give perks to un-accessorized combat? Like an unarmed/unarmored skill? my guess is no, but I bring it up Cuz people want unarmed combat and some unarmored perks or something. this could take up a slot in stealth possibly, or combat.

Edit. They could call it the pugilism (spelling?) skill.

Alchemy is under magic now, not stealth.

I don't believe that that is true. Enchanting is the magic craft, smithing is combat and alchemy is stealth.

-Combat
1 Handed Weapons
2 Handed Weapons

Heavy armor
Unarmed combat
Smithing

-Magic
Restoration
Alteration
Destruction
Conjuration
Illusion
Enchanting

-Stealth
Speechcraft

EDIT: That is, the same as in Oblivion, with blade/blunt -> 1/2 minus mysticism, athletics, acrobatics.
