Low Intelligence Playthrough?

Post » Mon Jul 26, 2010 1:37 pm

Does anybody know the following:

1. What is the maximum intelligence you can have in New Vegas for the Fallout 2-style low INT run through?

2. How often do the funny, dumb dialogue options come along? Is it often enough to merit a full idiot playthrough?

Does this game have low-INT dialogue like Arcanum or Fallout 2? I assumed it only had the skill-check stuff.

It does have them , but from what I gather they are rather infrequent.

I hope you chose Intelligence 9, because it is the same as 10. 9 grants 14.5 which rounds up to 15 SP, same as Intelligence 10. Otherwise you wasted a S.P.E.C.I.A.L. Personally I went for I8, and got Intense Training to 9.

Not true. New Vegas has changed how that works.

Odd numbered skill spoints don't round up, they get carried over to the next level to make an even number.
Example; 9 intelligence grants 14.5 skill points, but you only get the 14 on the odd numbered levels. On the next level you get the last 0.5 carried over so you gain 15.

In total you lose 1 skill point over 2 levels if you go with 9 (or any odd numbered) intelligence,

I personally ran to the implant lady as soon as i left the Doc's house, only picked up the Caravan deck and the first snowglobe. That was enough to give me the money for the intelligence implant, so i got that on level 1.

Exactly why do you think that? Because that's not what happens.

Yes, the 0.5s which result from an odd Intelligence are saved for the next level up. However, skill points determined by Luck are still rounded up.

I went 7 Intelligence but didn't realize that was only good for 1 extra point a level (compared to 5). Next playthrough I'm going to leave it at 5 and use my SPECIAL points elswhere. Maybe max out endurance so I can go crazy with the implants.

Oh it gets rounded, I couldn't figure out while I had 16 pts some lv and 17 pts other lvls. Thanks for clearing that up.
