Modern Warfare 3 vs Skyrim

Post » Sun Aug 08, 2010 7:19 am

So with news of Modern Warfare 3 coming on 08.11.11 (http://uk.xbox360.ign.com/articles/116/1168454p1.html, do you think this will hugely affect Skyrim's sales? I'm not trying to compare the two games in terms of how good they are, but how well they'll sell. MW2 made over $550million dollars, but with Battlefield 3 coming too. people may choose to not buy MW3. Fortunately Skyrim is doing great too, with pre-order sales ascending quickly http://news.punchjump.com/blog/2011/05/13/the-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim-ps3-xbox-360-pre-order-sales-ascend/. Hopefully Skyrim will get more attention not just from RPG gamers, but from gamers of all kind. Also, give your thoughts to whether you think Skyrim will be delayed due to the release of MW3. And please correct any mistake I have made.

VS threads aren't allowed, but MW3 releasing 3 days before Skyrim concerns me tremendously.

Like the mistake of making another "should they push Skyrim back?" thread? ;)

Meh, sale-wise MW3 will kick Skyrim's ass hard.
Quality wise? Hell no.

Meh. Doesn't bug me. Both games will do what they do best, and both will sell well.

yeh vs threads arent allowed, skyrim will never generate as many sales as mw3 simply because they try to release one every year, where bethesda take time to make their games, cod just keeps bringing out stupid things , i mean cod 4 was good but recently...

Who cares if more people buy MW3 anyway? If you want Skyrim get Skyrim.. the people who get MW3 have their own problems [;

i think modern warfare 3 should be afraid of skyrim and not vice versa...i think the crucial moment is going to be e3...bethesda needs to leave a lasting impression on its audience but with that said, the modern warfare franchise is not what it used to be, many ppl i know are starting to see it as repetitive and unrealistic.

I saw the title and thought "inb4lock" but seeing as its about the release date... I don't mind, I'm not the one who's making skyrim. I do worry a bit for bethesda, but I think anyone who plays cod won't play skyrim, and anyone who plays skyrim won't play cod.

I believe Skyrim will do about as well as MW3.

MW3 will be bought by a completely different type of gamer, and vice versa for Skyrim.

Beth knew there was a good chance a new CoD game would probably be launching in November, but 3 days before Skyrim? Come on. This could have bad implications.

Think about the average CoD player (wannabe thugs and 8 year olds, mostly), compare that to the average RPG fan. I'm not worried at all...

Will their sales affect each other? Definitely to some extent... But guys, November is always like that. If they wanted to avoid stiff competition they would have released it in the Spring or Summer. November is always when the huge ones come out, right before the holiday season.

Yes, November is always like that, but Beth probably didn't want MW3 to launch 3 days before Skyrim.
