How many times have you beaten Fallout : New Vegas?

Post » Mon Aug 09, 2010 10:38 pm

Side note anyone actually take enough damage to use the food / stimpack healing required for those little mini quests?

Yup. In reality, the stimpack achievement was much more difficult for me.. main reason being that I finished it more than 10 hours faster than my previous character, which did the food achievement..

I guess it just takes playing a lot and getting hit a lot. Easier on said previous character because it was Unarmed-heavy, harder on the stimpack one because I was rolling Heavy Armor and Near 100% Crit Energy Weapons. I actually had to go to Forlorn Hope and kill everyone there just for those last few hundred HP.

None, don't like to rush things in RPG games. But i have started over about 3-4 times due to some fixes i have made to the game, new mods or patch releases.

Actually Ijust got both at lvl 29. And I still havent completed ring a ding quest.

Thanks, I've got 3/4's of the way on the food one.

I tried but even on a pure melee build, metal armour at most, no sneak and engaging giant radscorpions at level 8 I still had trouble getting anywhere near the amount required for the food alone.
I think it's just me, I'm so used to playing FO games that getting hit too often is tantamount to admitting defeat, they should have put one in where if you lose over X amount of HP's you don't get it... Joke.

I'll either spam fights by going back over areas and getting hit more often or try higher difficulty I suppose, thanks for the tips though.

This. But I dig exploring. Now if the game didn't end after the MQ then I might take a different tact.

Awesome to see so many folks attacking the game from different perspectives. Open ended games where you can do what you want is pure win. :foodndrink:

Me too. I tend to get side tracked easily. Happened with FO3. I'd be concentrating on a quest and be wandering to the next map marker when all of a sudden, I see a new tick on the compass that I haven't explored. Then it just dominoes out of control until I've forgotten what I was doing in the first place. I never found everything in FO3 but I was getting close.

It seems to be happening with NV more. Mainly because I know that the game ends after the MQ so I'm spending a lot more time looking around, exploring and doing side quests. That I have done very little in the way of the MQ. Although, I think I'm going to side with the NCR this time around.

I think 3 or 4 times. About 130 hours total on the game in any case.

Just beaten it second time, both NCR snipers. I made a save before picking a side on my last game (I didn't enter the strip until I was completely done with the wasteland and I was level 30) so I'm gonna go through with other endings as well.

Finished it? Between all the [censored] crash-on-launch and CTD, I'm yet to get to the [censored] Novac!

Zero, with 135 hours played total. One character is level 30 and just eliminated Mr. House for the NCR. The other character is level 10th and just made it to Ft. McCarran. I really enjoy exploring an open world and experiencing different outcomes, so I'm not rushing things.

Try playing with Light Armor / Clothing and using Melee / Unarmed. Trust me, its much more exciting. The only Light Armor that can compare to Medium Armor is the Vault 34 Armor and that armor's HP is insanely low so you would need to constantly repair it with other Combat Armor. At least with Jury Rigging, you can repair it with clothing, which is a welcome addition given its HP.

Getting hit a lot is natural to me. Mainly because I'm as much as a danger to myself as I am to my enemies.

Try Very Hard. If you've been playing Hard or even Normal, it won't seem like much of a difference.

Once. that was for House. I'm taking it slowly on my second playthrough; walking everywhere and very little fast travel.

Lol, every other game I would say we would be in the same boat, FO is the one that does not make me run round in circles only to die every fight.

Thanks I play hardcoe normal, and I meant to say they wore metal at most, most times clothing even with a melee build, but I just like third person view of metal clad pc's.
Well I just got the food one, turns out, deathclaws are friendly, Fire geckos are helpfull and night stalkers are bloody hard.

Back on topic, I'm going to try a fourth complete playthrough, to see CL side of things.
Tried once before, but every time I see one let alone hear their dialogue I just want to shove caesar into the colorado with the packs the slaves tote around with.

Twice:

Guns character with NCR
Unarmed character with Yes Man

Started Melee/Explosives with Caesar's Legion, Energy Weapons with House, and another Guns character just to wander around when I'm bored ... but waiting until after the patch lands on 360 to beat with any of those.

I've completed all 4 possible faction endings (if you include Yes Man/Independent as a faction). Found that siding w/ the Legion was actually much harder. (Playing on very hard/hardcoe btw. YMMV)

I've also found that when siding with the Legion makes the NCR radio at the end much more interesting ;)

one more for NONE ... shoot, I realized that I was doing the main quest and remembered that the game will end when finishing that. So.. now Im doing a triangle search (looking for empty triangles and going to where they are). Amazing all the stuff Ive found all of it in the south. But I havent found any vaults.. and the few caves/caverns Ive found are pretty .... well bland. Still fun.. and Im realizing that this game is indeed as big as Fallout 3.

None.

I plan on playing more when Dead Money is released.. might get a little closer to the end of the Main Quest then, but probably won't beat it anytime soon. I like to spend 100+ hours on one specific character and end it with the actual ending.

Twice. First time with NCR, second time Independent. Just started a new one, thinking the Legion (I don't like Mr. House, so I'll do him last).
