Word has it that there is a dead NCR soldier somewhere around Bear Trap Gulth on Black Mountain. I can't find him. I looked from the bottom to the overlook at the top. Almost got hit by the rolling boulder. Where is the dead soldier with the .44 magnum?

For what quest is this dead NCR soldier affiliated with?

There is no quest. The dead NCR troopes simply serves as a warning of the bear traps in the gulch and the SPOILER: Giant boulder drop at the end of the gulch.

I've not found a single sign of any NCR soldier laying around. Just the nightkin I killed. Where is the NCR body or bodies?

Somewhere on the road to the mountain there's a path with bear traps and rocks falling occasionally. I think there was a dead soldier there. I don't remember a .44 magnum though.

It was a .357 revolver, I believe.

There was just a soldier lying at the bottom of the gulch where the bear traps and the rock fall is. Don't remember any sort of a unique weapon on him though.

The game doesn't always spawn bodies when it should, try going into a different cell and coming back (you may have to try it a few times).

Maybe that's it.

I've been looking at that plateau wondering if there was a way to climb up it. I'll check it out.
