dynamic snow tech could be used in other ways

Post » Sat Aug 14, 2010 7:58 pm

for example...

in an ancient dungeon or crypt there could be DUST everywhere!!! a few alterations to the snow system would allow for a nice placement of dust upon items!
alternatively a dungeon could possibly gain an intelligent mist effect upon the floor from a snow system

in a deadric realm there are ash storms...
and im sure sheogorath could make it snow something freaky... any deadra could have some kind of snow in their realm

could the dynamic snow system be used for rain? replacing textures that the rain lands on?
(anything concrete or stone will become shiny, dirt will become mud, skin and leaves would get droplets on, wood and fur would become damp)
anything with a large enough angle would have rain (or mud) pour down it...

Having skeletons or ghosts turn into dynamic dust piles when you kill them would be awesome.

So if you walk over the pile, a little cloud of dust is kicked up into the air.

didn't you have a thread nearly identical to this the other day? http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1190004-dynamic-natural-effects/page__p__17678251#entry17678251 What was wrong with that one?

I think they should do that, but whether they do remains to be seen. It could be pretty intense on low-end systems

I will just state my concerns here, as it is months since I said it last time:
If snow is dynamic, how will they handle LOD? because in Oblivion the LOD was a "screenshot" picture of the ground and its material/texture.

It shouldn't be a concern since they already handled that matter :)
Don't worry

For first need to see work of such tech in game before we can decide where it can be used,
but I like to see it used in leves ash storms, dust storms and in death animations of some mystical beings as well.

Also it can be usable for tree leaves
