Claw Style Weapons in Skyrim?

Post » Sun Aug 15, 2010 8:44 pm

I had a quick search and couldn't really find anything that covered this so thought I would make a new topic. Anyway, no doubt most of you will have played Diablo, WoW, Ninja Gaiden etc etc and if your like me you will have enjoyed that Claw style weapons that they implemented. Now I know TES isn't about running around as a Ninja but Claw weapons would fit an assassin type class very well, in fact they would also fit a fighter class (anyone else ever wanted to put on some big bear claws and go hand-to-hand with some stuff?) and now with the new dual wield system in place it opens the doors for things like this to work very well indeed.

Whats your views and opinions on this subject?

I don't want claws, but I think gauntlets should have an effect on the damage you deal in hand-to-hand combat.

Khajits. That is all.

They should have usable claws as a weapon in hand to hand, sorta like how werewolves did in Bloodmoon

Edit: Or was that in a werewolf mod for Oblivion....My memory is foggy

The physics behind implementing one would be immense, and honestly, I wouldnt think the weapon would be that effective..

Example: Two trolls charge at you *spin spin spin spin, HIT* one troll, does some damage, but now both trolls are right on top of you, ready to eviscerate

Meh, I really don't see this adding much to the game.

because the mechanics would be ridiculously hard to pull off, plus its not even a real weapon . . . it was used by peasants in some day to day chores . . . its as much of a weapon as pitchforks

Actually they're no so unrealistic, they were popular in the middle east.

And yeah I think Khajiits new racial ability should be that instead of using their fists they use they're claws for like 2 or 3% extra damage.

unrealistic wasnt really the right word, i know claws can be used as a weapon, its just that i dont see any advantage claws have over a dagger or a sword ar any other standard weapon . . . claws do have some advantages but too many disadvantages to be considered a viable alternative

if they were popular anywhere its not the middle east, and instead of popular id rather use the word 'present' . . . claws werent popular anywhere

Indeed weight of gauntlets and their armor rating can be added to calculation of hand to hand damage output.

No. I don't think they'll fit the animations for swords or maces. Maybe if they were given their own weapon class but I don't think 'claw' weapons look cool either.

No thanks. Flimsy weapons that'd be just as likely to break as hurt your enemy.

this would be quite fun to maul enemies to death with claws, but they gotta be implemented good. id hate to see them overpowered or underpowered (like most oblivion weapons) it would be a nice change of pace though. they could be fast and powerfull, but have a short reach or somehting

They won't put spears in, something people have been asking for, so I'm pretty sure they won't put claw weapons in.

Nah. Hell, we can't get back weapons that have already been in TES games, much less first-time appearances for new ones. No claws until we get back spears and flails, I say.
