Question about the storyline.

Well, I did not bought New Vegas yet because of the bugs and I wait until they realse some patches that fix them but I have a question regarding the storyline. I heard that the NCR Troopers shoot at you when you wear BoS Power Armor, that reminded me to go to the Fallout Wiki and there was that bit regarding the storyline of Van Buren where it was supposed to have a war between the NCR and the BoS, but it states that this sint considered Canon because Van Buren never came out.

So, if they put that into the game, is it explained why? Because at the end of Fallout (or was that Fallout 2, I do not remeber anymore) that if you got the good ending, it was aid that the BoS helped the NCR with tech and stayed in the background and all, so did this cooperation break over time or did the War happen as it was planned for Van Buren?

Would be nice to to know that.

In game it explains why the BOS and the NCR do not play nice any more. It has nothing to do with VB as far as I know.

Is your avatar Lee Marvin?

I'm not sure if VB is considered canon, but a lot of VB content made its way into NV. So in regard Id say that NV is just using the canon from VB to become NV canon, if that makes sense.

Well yes it is, actually its General Benjamin Carrington from the comic XII, who was drawn in the likeness of Lee Marvin.

I suspected that's who it was. Awesome avatar :) I've actually read all the old comics.

I role play a wily, prospector-esque, survivalist that looks like Lee Marvin from Paint Your Wagon, and talks like Walter Brennan. LOL

Bwahaha, thats awesome. I thought about creating a Clint Eastwood lookalike in New Vegas if thats possible. XD

Also thanks for the answers, I was just puzzeled about the whole "NCR hates BoS" thing, but if its all explained then its good, because otherwise I would have felt like I missed something.

I think you guys should note that Van Buren was never not considered canon. It was always considered at the very least semi canon.

The NCR-BoS conflict I think is one of the parts of the VB that was canonised in the Fallout Universe. NV seems to confirm this.

Yeah VB is 2 decades old. I think they just choose the best stuff and modified it. In VB the end of the game was going to take place on a space station that had 3/6 nukes that worked and you have to stop some crazy guy from launching them at the remainder of humanity or something. Also there was an old prison that was governed by a crazy AI that you had to go and get some thing out of. True story go read the Fallout Bible.

It's not that Van Buren has been made canon (or more canon); it's that they took a lot of the stuff from Van Buren and incorporated it into this game, making it solidly canon.

Van Buren was basically one of those things where it's canon as long as it doesn't directly contradict something else that's undeniably canonical.
