Are Consoles Slowing Development?

Post » Mon Aug 16, 2010 6:33 pm

Yes, the problem is PC gaming is definitely taking a massive back seat to console gaming. Console gaming is just better in every way... except for performance (though price takes a factor here.)

Consoles account for 90% of Bethesda's sales, so you'd see them scrap the PC version before you'd see them scrap the console ones.

Note the word AVERAGE i don't mean something someone's spent 1 grand + and where is you point to back up your statement.

CyberPower X58 Configurator

NVIDIA GT520 1GB Video
MSI X58 USB3 & SATA-III Motherboard
1TB SATA-II 7200 RPM HD

How's that AVERAGE PC compare to a console?

AMD Phenom II X6 1055T CPU
4GB DDR3/1600MHz RAM
NVIDIA GT520 1GB Video
Asus 870A USB 3 & SATA-III MB
1TB SATA-III 7200 RPM HD

A lot more. I don't have $900 to waste on video games, especially when not a lot of games are PC exclusive and I prefer a $200 XBOX.

And way to make yourself sound like an ass. $869 = not expensive? For a video game player? Get real, man. For a college kid, that's way too much.

The current gen consoles can't handle open cities. Current gen PCs can.

Considering not everyone wants to buy a new PC rig every couple of years it's much more cost effective to own a console so quite frankly consoles rank quite highly against that considering they are much older.

also in regards to your straw man comment how expensive something is, is totally relative what is inexpensive to some may be too expensive to others so remove your head from your excretory pathway and smell the fresh air buddy.

I prefer a $200 XBOX.

But you had to wait YEARS for the Xbox to drop that low. Plus $200 includes only a small (maybe none at all?) HDD.

I'm pretty sure the PS2 can't run Skyrim... or the Gamecube for that matter. In fact, most outdated consoles AND PCs can't run Skyrim.

This seems like a very general discussion about PC versus console and not so much about Skyrim, yet again for the millionth time. It ALWAYS leads to console wars

Indeed.
