A dev said so.

Are you sure that was serious? I thought that was a joke.

Are you sure that was serious?

Yes. It's mirrored.

So they literally mirrored the perspective of a city for artistic reasons in the trailer, ruffling the feathers of windmill experts all over the Internet? That... is kind of awesome. I have very much enjoyed reading the windmill threads.

Mirroring would only change clockwise in counterclockwise or the other way around, but not the funny fact that the sails are the ones leading, not the blades.

i think dragonborn means that they ran the video in reverse. in that case i can see that the mill would indeed run backwards. someone else said that they thought it looked better panning the other way.

It's a demonstration of the newly-reintroduced Enchantment skill. The "blades" on the windmill have been enchanted using trapped wind spirits, which strain toward the wind trying to rejoin their brethren thus pulling the blades toward the air and making the windmill spin in the opposite direction we from Earth would expect. :)

Don't forget that there are also mills that had more than one power source. On a cliffside like that, I could easily see the drive shaft going into the rock, where a run-off flow existed. When the water flowed, that was the power...but due to rock structure, it turns the mill backwards from wind power. When the runoff is dry, or frozen, the wind is the driving force.

Or someone screwed the pooch in their coding (since the female was walking forwards, it is highly unlikely they flipped the video, y'know?).

Search function fail. There has been a topic on this every day since the trailer was released.

Well we can't skip a day can we now?
