When your follower makes a kill, do you get full experience, partial experience or no experience?

I'm currently travelling with Boone and ED-E. The ED-E-ot is manageable, but Boone is EXTREMELY aggressive even when set to passive. I rarely have the time to aim and shoot anymore. Are they robbing me of experience here?

You get all the XP. No more staying at a low level by letting the immortal companions kill things for anyone.
