[RP/Fic Idea] Super powers?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 1:53 pm

Radiation would be the cause. That or stimulants or FEV. Of course, we couldn't be Superman or Dr. Manhattan, we'd be fairly weak in comparison to those, we'd be semi-super, you know, advanced jumping and running, maybe laser vision, semi-invisibility, power to turn into mist, Telekinesis, mind-reading, stuff like that. We'd also use guns, because not all of us would have offensive powers or unlimited energy. Now, I would be the one to make it, but it may be a while, probably a week or two, until I could create the thread.

Actually, this sounds pretty good. Assuming stuff like laser-vision has appropriate drawbacks, of course... Yes, I'm invoking Scott Summers here.

Anyway, radiation-spawned powers would fit the old comic-book method of gaining them; is there another plot? Are the remnants of the Enclave attempting to harness these new mutates to rebuild their dream-America?

Well, I'd definitely be up for it at any rate. :tops:

Well, rather than choosing the Enclave, I'd probably use a brand new group, or maybe the Ordinators, to be the antagonists to the "mutants".

As long as there's some kind of conflict to drive the plot, it's good.

I'll probably have a few antagonist groups. One that tried to harvest their powers, maybe the Enclave or a group that split from them, a group who hunts down the superheroes, and a group of supervillians seeking something that the good heroes are against.

Seems like somone has been watching Heroes :D Never the less, it is a good idea. I was sort of thinking of having somthing like that happen to my character, for one of his later stories. Besides, if there are aliens and tree people in Fallout, who is to say there cant be a man that can push guns right out of peoples hands with a look. Plus, I think Mirelurk King's have a telekenetic or sonic ability.

Would we have the chance to play one of the 'supervillains,' though? That might be kind of fun.

:P Nope, I saw one episode of Heroes and hated it. Thought the acting was awful.

EDIT: To NEO: Yeah, you could make a supervillian character. I'll allow you to be on one of the bad sides, totally warping your friends and enemies and changing your outlook. There will be a lot of team work and a lot of PvP.

Mmm... WARPING. I can't hardly wait. :chaos: And I'm always looking for RPs that stress the teamwork/PvP aspect; too many degenerate into a hundred individual paths with no real interaction. Assuming there was more to it from the beginning.

(Heroes had some good points, late in S1 and parts of S2. Otherwise... Ugh.)

Oh, seeing as fallout fanfic section isn't that popular compared to TES fanfic, you can have up to two characters. I plan on having one good and one evil :D

*insert evil laugh here*

I'll probably play one good, one bad as well, unless there's an uneven turnout. We'll see...

Anyway, night!

the real issue would be balancing the different powers and their drawbacks. all sorts of examples but you would need to severely limit or ban entirely the normal super powers (super strength pyrokinesis, telekinesis ect)
the powers would need to either be minor or have a crippling weakness ( Magnetic repulsion powers that make living near any metal impossible)

A lot of the difficulties could be circumvented simply by making sure that each is limited to one major power or perhaps two minor ones. So, for a major power like superstrength, that doesn't make you invulnerable or give you heightened senses or anything, so even a guy who can punch through a Vault's reinforced door is gonna be killed if someone gets him with a headshot, and even a stubbed toe will hurt this guy as much as it would anyone.
