Your 1st EPIC Moment

Taking a Fiend's head off with a silenced Varmint Rifle from quite a distance using no scope, no irons, and no VATS. Smooth. B)

My true epic 1st moment was clearing out the quarry. I had the alpha male and mother/babies left. I climbed up that conveyor thing, took out the alpha with a couple of amr incendiary headshots (which I thought would take many more). I then focused on the mother. I took a shot, then from high up, I notice boone and ed-e charging in through my scope. It was pretty awesome to watch them from what seemed so far away...like a birdseye view, only I helped by sniping as he unloaded with a riot shotgun

Running into the Deathclaw in Prim Pass at level 2. Had to use Powder Charges to cripple the legs, then I unloaded every round I had to the head.. and still had to go grab more ammo from the shack to finish it off.

Not exactly epic, but I'm not going to start a new topic. My character leaves the Dino gift shop and I hear a thud like something hitting the ground. At the base of the stairs is a pile of meat and bones. I look at it and it is a Wasteland Settler, or what is left. Even has some loot on it. So now I'm looking all about for what dropped it. Up high I see a little dot moving across the sky. WTF?

Man, that Blind Deathclaw... The developers are a bunch of sadists.
At least at the end of the pass they reward us with Harper's shack, the best house in the game--

Spoiler
Ammo bench, work bench, campfire and tons of storage, all in one place.

I was doing missions for the Van Graff's with Cass as a companion. Jean-Baptiste Cutting asked me to stand down so he could kill Cass, I of course said no, and he started approaching Cass anyway. So I shot him in the head, which did very little damage even at point blank range, and started a huge fight. Cass got knocked out right away (I was playing on normal mode, not hardcoe) and all I had was a varmint rifle and a few other crappy guns. Nothing else, no mines, no grenades, nothing. Then I realized that since I was in an energy weapons store and everyone was already trying to kill me, I could steal all the plasma grenades I wanted, and after I ran out of bullets (to clarify, I didn't think to grab the plasma grenades until AFTER i ran out of bullets, only managing to kill Cutting and like 1 or 2 guards) i turned the rest of them into goo. Then Cass woke up and yelled at me for killing everybody when before I said we should try to gather evidence instead.
I felt like Roland from The Dark Tower. If he had plasma grenades. So yeah, nothing like Roland, but still epic.

My first Epic Moment was when I had to go and get a new sheriff for Primm from the NCR Correctional Facility.

Instead of just grabbing him and leaving, I actually ran into the courtyard and killed everyone outside. After that I ran into the Administration Building and took on all of the elites by myself. It was so epic.

I had just bought That Gun and was itching to try it. I'd say it worked out pretty well :)

I'm sorry this is long but I hope you enjoy the story. I decided to find some Deathclaws. I planned on taking Boone and ED-E along but they got lost when we were swimming across the river so I went on ahead to find the deathclaw area thinking they'd catch up. I had just gotten the Gobi Campaign Scout Rifle and wanted to test it out on something and then give it to Boone. When I found the area, a single deathclaw was in front of me so I took a few shots and it went down pretty easy...then 4 more and I'm thinking I should try this alone. I went up the hill and laid down some frag mines and used Thump Thump to draw another one to me. That one is crippled by the mines and the Gobi does the rest.

Then I circle around to the right where there are many, many red ticks on the compass. I try to get up as high as I can on the rocks and find a good position. The scope on the Gobi reveals there's about 20 Deathclaws of all ages and a mother and an alpha male. I save my game. Thump Thump fires about a dozen grenades and then I switch to the Gobi, I'm firing as fast as I can because it's just thick with deathclaws and how could anyone miss? I never used Vats this time. And then...and then...my game crashes and we go to the PS3 reload sequence. omg, it was a truly epic freeze. True story.

So...everything reboots and reloads and when I reappear on the rocks in front of the deathclaws, Boone and ED-E are with me again. I can't see Boone but I can hear him verbally spotting and I see ED-E get hammered by a charging deathclaw and hitting the ground.

I'm shooting Thump Thump for all I'm worth and then run out of grenades. I can hear Boone shooting but can't tell if it's doing any good. I'm trying to grab the Gobi again and wishing I had the heavy incinerator but Boone has it and I can't see him. We keep shooting and some deathclaws are dropping and then they withdraw a little so that I can find Boone below me on the rocks and I can get the heavy incinerator from him. I get it and give him the Gobi and ammo and then Save. When I try to reposition to get the rest of the deathclaws, I find I'm stuck in the rocks...a huge long section that lets me run around underneath but I can't get out. The only way out is to fast travel. (frustrated yet?)

So we fast travel to a nearby ranger station but there's no way down the rocks to the river. I just keep dropping down the side of the cliff a little at a time but Boone and ED-E can't follow me so I lose them again. At least I have the heavy incinerator...but he's got the Gobi...the best sniper buddy anyone could have has the terrific Gobi but isn't with me. I'm stubborn so I keep going. I reach the river and use the rebreather to get back to the deathclaw area and start up the path again. I reposition and use the incinerator to flush them out, two almost get me but I backpedal so hard I think I'm going to fall off the cliff. I keep firing the incinerator and they finally go down. The incinerator rains fireballs down and gets the last two from range and I jump around the room because it felt epic! :D wow, I love this game.

Boone and ED-E are back and find me looking around for anything good. Boone gets some terrific Power Armor. He looks like a tank.

this may not count but;

I had just gotten through to rescuing deputy whatever his name was from all those convicts holed up in that hotel place.
So I picked up the incinerator off the leader, and proceeded to look around some more. Over a desk, to his face, I shot, and he ran towards me, and as he was about to swing, he fell to his death at my feet. I stood there, enjoying my triumph. Then it struck me.

I HAVE A GUN THAT SHOOTS FREAKIN' FIREBALLS!!!

First was putting on that red hat that Boone gives you and watching the "leader" of novac get her head blown to pieces.

Second...Vault 11...no explanation needed..

Last Stand at the 188:

Decided to play a melee/explosives character, determined to just use those two classes of weapons no matter what, and at third level I decided to do an end run for Vegas, the long way. Thought I would just hit Primm, Novac, the 188, and end up at Gun Runners, then go back to Primm and pick up where I left off. Then I would have the hotel room in Novac, access to good merchants, and some fast travel freedom. Grabbed Chance's Knife to have a little "edge", so to speak. So I make it to Wolfhorn Ranch without an issue, and find a large caravan at the overpass heading north, and decide to tag along. Strength in numbers, and all that. Now, I had scavenged some NCR trooper armor and because it was the best armor I had, I was wearing it, and we ran into a group of Legionnaires. I'd forgotten about the armor. I thought I would just, you know, stand back and let the caravan deal with the Legionnaires, then I would loot the survivors. But one Legionnaire charged me with a machete, and in a gut reaction, I swung back. Boom, HATED by the Legion. Didn't think much about it at the time, just thought, well, I'll get back to neutral with them when I get the Mark of Caesar. No big deal.

Further on, near Ranger Station Charlie, we run into more Legion, and the caravan gets wiped out in the fight. I press on alone, armed with Chance's Knife, 11 frag grenades, and a bundle of throwing spears as my best weapons. I run into four Legion Assassins just outside Novac. The fight is over before it began, me backpedaling lobbing grenades, and them turning me into swiss cheese with their SMGs. My ragdolling body is really all I remember. Reload. I pass that spot again, and there's no sign of the Assassins. I think, whew... I'd only run into Assassins one other time, in about 200 hours of play, so I thought it was over. I was wrong.

No caravans in Novac, so I move on alone. The four Assassins were waiting for me as I approached the El Dorado. This fight, if possible, was quicker than the first one. I had no cover, and the SMG fire was withering. Ragdoll. Reload.

Now I'm paranoid. I move north again, clutching a frag grenade and constantly scanning in front of me and to the sides. The Assassins are no where to be seen as I pass the El Dorado. I press on north, and finally get to the 188 Trading Post. I go to the arms merchant and buy some reinforced leather armor, three frag mines and one frag grenade. When I come out of the bartering screen, I hear automatic fire in the distance. I turn toward where Veronica hangs out, and I see tracers flying over her head. [censored]. Here they come.

The four Assassins came from the east. The Brahmin and the Destitute traveler were the first to die, I think, and I saw Michelle drop, and Veronica run away. There were two NCR troopers on the far side of the north bridge, and they opened up on the Assassins as they crested the ridge. I was thinking "cover, have to use cover, my only chance". The Assassins went after the troopers, and I stayed on the south bridge, lobbing grenades at them. The arms merchant opened fire, and it drew two of the Assassins over toward where I was crouched. I popped a psycho, a jet, a turbo, a med-x, and a few sarsaparillas, and charged them with Chance's Knife. This part is a blur of red, VATS and flashing blades, but when it was over, I stood over their bodies with about half of my health left and bloodlust in my brain. I can kill them. They can die.

The NCR troopers were dead by now, and the Assassins came around the other side of the bridge to get me. I downed a few more sarsaparillas and filled up on more drugs and turned to meet them. One of them had a super sledge. Are you kidding me? The rest of the fight took place around the tent, me running around it trying to only fight one of them at a time. Thankfully they were heavily wounded. The last one, the one with the sledge, finally fell to my flurry of desperate swings.

Michelle, Alexander, two troopers, the arms merchant, the Destitute Traveler, two Gun Runner Guards, one Mercenary, Samuel, and the Brahmin. Dead. Veronica and the Forecaster were the only ones left alive.

But the loot was excellent.
