GIVE ME A NEW CRIB!

The only thing besides the loading times that I can't stand about new vegas is getting back to your casino/house. You have to go through 4 load screens just to get to it. I didn't live in tenpenny tower in Fallout 3 for a reason. Take an idea from Oblivion and give me a 3 dollar add on so I can just travel to the front door of my own mansion or vault. Do that and this will be just as good maybe better with bug fixes then Fallout 3. Also just take an idea from the many mods that I saw in Fallout 3 for the PC. I can't believe you think everybody has an awesome gaming computer or people on consoles want to go through 4 load screens just to go grab one thing, I saw good mods for that game, and I'm sure i will for new vegas, but as I only have an Xbox I'm stuck with a minor but really stupid oversight by obsidian.

There are plenty of homes that are already in game, just not ones that are specially designated for you. Ive got on in Goodsprings with plenty of safe containers and display space, just find one with a fast travel point and some ammo caches, medical supply boxes, cabinets or dressers, these are containers that do not respawn and can be used to store items safely, as an added bonus find one with a bed, water supply, crafting area, the only thing youll miss is any of the special "house" items that are only found in player homes. Of course i wouldnt mind some themed homes or special faction homes added in future DLC.

Is the reason why I never bother using the casino house. Sure its a penthouse, but it takes you about 5-10 minutes(varies on CPU processors) to get to it.

There are tons of unofficial houses you can use. Novac is the only official one so far that I know that atleast drops you off near the front door.

There is the Wolfhorn Ranch which I stumbled across and claimed as my own, bed and locker, can't remember if it has a fridge. Although you can't add any bonuses like the other rooms.

Be careful about claiming random buildings as homes.
I'm not sure if it occurs in NV, but in FO3 and Oblivion, every 3 or 4 days containers would reset/respawn.

You get keys to safehouses from certain factions once they like you enough and/or complete certain quests for them. So far I've found (but not gotten keys for) Brotherhood of Steel, Legion, and NCR safehouses. I think there might be one for the Followers, too.

But the best one is Novac. Shop that sells weapon mods/plays caravan, bed that gets you well-rested, plenty of safe storage, and ammo and workbench crafting tables. The only thing that's missing is a campfire. I do my cooking at Goldsprings source. I store my cooking ingredients in the container in the trailer (suitcase, I think). I tested it by putting something in it at level 3 or so, and it was still there at lvl 15, many days later, so I think it's safe.
