Defensive Spells?

Post » Sat Sep 11, 2010 11:13 pm

So I've been stalking Skyrim since like February of this year. If i were to type Skyrim into Google Search and pull up that page, everything from page 1-5 would be highlighted. My point being, i thought i saw some information on defensive spells but kinda forgot and haven't seen it again. I think in an interview or something Mr. Todd Howard mentioned about how a magic duel would be more... more. And how it would be kinda Harry Potter style and you would cast a Flare with one hand while throw a magic shield up with the other hand, blocking the ice spike that has targeted your throat. So can anyone confirm this or give me more information? What I'm thinking of is an actually Sheild Spell that if timed right will catch the spell fired towards you.

Thanks

This is what you were looking for:

If you come face to face with another wizard, you’ll want to keep an attacking spell in one hand and improve your defense by equipping a ward spell in the other. Suddenly, magic duels become much more interesting, as you must attack at the opportune time, use the ward as a shield when your opponent is casting spells your way, and manage your magicka level by consuming potions.

Same ;) My two main complaints with oblivion's magic were the inability to block incoming spells and the fact that on target/on touch/on self spells were considered different spells instead of different ways to cast the same spell.

And now it seems that Bethesda has addressed both issues (the second one for sure at least)

So, yeah, If we can really block/send back enemy spells by casting magical barriers at the right moment I'll definetely go for a pure mage this time.
