So you wanna be a stealthy back stabber?

Climbing and grappling hooks would be somewhat game breaking and detract too much from the point of the game.
Black eggs and smoke bombs would be a cool addition, now that alchemy is a stealth skill it could be used for all kinds of thievish tricks and traps: blinding powders, throwing potions, paralysis darts etc.

Can you describe how climbing similar to this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WZdP83kxT-U can be game breaking?
Describe your facts please.
I see logical way to overcome obstacle by such climbing and thats does not hard at all since there is no acrobatic to increase jump height archers and mages on top of stone will ultimate doom for all melee enemies who incapable react properly on such situation.

Climbing similar to this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ExI4nnQNLes and this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=swl5Sm_uHXo will available in certain allowed by devs places and can require a lot of fatigue or special equipment to climb high, such climbing actually increase exploration area by adding Z axis into it, think about more unique dungeons not just plain floors.
Besides in such way ladders can be introduced in game as well add more possible entrances to certain places.

That's the thing, you could only climb on areas where it was designed that way, on walls that could have a giant sign that says "Climb me" with their perfectly shaped edges.

Ladders would be fine though...

Well I believe you cannot climb by all surfaces at the same success does not?
I just curios why you want giant sign that says "Climb me" when you can use logic and understood thats certain surfaces can be climbable and certain cannot?
I think putting an invisible activator plane or box thats allow climbing in front of potentially climbable surface can help much, in such cases finding such climbable place can be done as discovery for player or by marker of NPC on map with some description in quest.
In both cases there is no need special marks on meshes or special textures but such things can be logical like sticking out the rough bricks in the wall, ivy crawling up the wall, some pipes or other architectural features thats not looks like giant signs but stimulate logical thinking in player mind can be done does not?
All of such features are work for this type of climbing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ExI4nnQNLes

For this one type http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WZdP83kxT-U there is no need of such restrictions since height of obstacle what can be solved is not bigger then two height of charter and was before carried by acrobatic and for some ones unrealistic jumps.
Since Havok behavior allow edge detection well (thats why legs have different position on stairs and rocks) why not use it?
Edge detection is old feature and was in many games why not add it to Skyrim?

That's what I'm saying, I don't need a giant sign, but you could see one just by seeing how the whole area is designed for climbing.

Well having climbable places does not mean thats all area must be designed for climbing only, as I already say climbing can be usable for alternative ways enter the guarded places like traveling over walls instead of city gates, or enter into window instead of door, as well for adding more exploration into area, I don't think area must be specially designed for hiding something, instead something must be hidden in area, using Z axis for expand exploration is really good thing.

I recently bought Morrowind, and am playing it now, and boy oh boy is marksman waayyy cooler! I'm a stealthy character and use marksman all the time. Why did they ever chop it's balls off in oblivion? Sure arrows hit where you aim, unlike the dice roll of morrowind which by they way isn't nearly as bad as I was lead to believe, but they completely took out the coolest weapons! Throwing knives, darts, and throwing stars rock! I WANT that! Should be an option in the poll IMO!

Edit, just saw it's the last option! Must be going crazy!

I'd like climbing, grappling hooks, ladders, ropes, breaking through windows, estinguishing light sources, and of course completely open cities. Those would make interesting gameplay for thieves.

Can you provide source?
Thats was interesting feature and still can be easy improvable and balanced why exactly they decide not add even simple climbing into game?

Its in one of the any interviews, cat remember which.

But basically Daggerfall climbing would work fine in Skyrim. Balance it with a chance to fall and your good. It adds depth and variety. I dont see why the devs, or anybody for that matter would be against it.

Apart from the fact that Daggerfall climbing was buggy, broken and nowadays not every wall stands 90° from the ground.

Other than celled cities, there would be nothing wrong with having climbing in Skyrim.

yes and it..... is..... AMAZING!!!!!!....... if your computer can handle the extra load. you tend to lag when near or in the cities if your cpu and gpu cant handle the extra loading of npc's and such. if you have a gaming rig made within the last couple of years though it should handle it no problem.

I would love it if enemy characters would sneak and do critical damage too!
As a warrior, I always found thieves and the like to be easy kills. But if they could sneak, it would make fighting them a LOT more fun...
