1 question

Post » Mon Sep 13, 2010 6:50 am

I have 2 fears about the game, the rest if I don't like the modifications when they come out will probably fix or add content

1. will there be scripted action sequences like PRESS F TO BLOCK THE DRAGONS FIRE stuff like that with on-screen instructions? That stuff drives me insane. I don't mean like actions like lockpicking or opening doors but i mean interactive cutscene things

2. will the world be as "open" as oblivion was? can i randomly go off the mq to explore a cave etc whenever i want? one of my biggest thrill was exploring in oblivion

thank you

The world will be just as open as the previous games.

1: I can't say for sure, but I seriously doubt there will be quicktime events. It just doesn't fit with the way Bethesda designs TES games.

2: Skyrim will absolutely be as open as Oblivion was :)

I highly doubt Quick Time Events will be in it, especially not in fights

And yes, open worlds is a staple of TES.

So was Mysticism.

...Not really.
Attributes maybe, but Mysticism is easily overlooked. More a feature than a staple. The open world, on the other hand, is unavoidable. And also definitely in the game.

1) I seriously doubt it as none of the other games needed anything like that.

2) Yes.

ps - I'll assume question #2 was a bonus question. ;)

For question 1, I dont know if any of you have played Amnesia: The Dark Descent(survival horror game i guess)....but in amnesia there were certain points in the game where it directed your attention at lets say a door creaking open on its own by an EXTREMELY quick forced turn of the players head that took maybe a split second accompanied by the creak of the door or some other noise(the atmosphere of the whole game was because of the amazing sounds)...

Am i the only person that would enjoy something like this for maybe the very first dragon encounter or something similar.

Wait, Mysticism was a staple of TES?

You do know that Mysticism's skills were simply scattered throughout the other skills, right? It was simply a miscellaneous skill.

And really, what makes you fear for quicktime events? You didn't need them before, and people already were shooting fireballs at ya, why now?

Why not give yourself a facefist instead?

I think I know what you mean with the first one, and while it hasn't been mentioned one way or another, I think it's rather unlikely that it would be in. The Elder Scrolls is really not the sort of game I'd expect to see that sort of thing in, and in any case, Bethesda has never done that before so I see no reason to think they would do so now. And I agree that I wouldn't want to see that in the Elder Scrolls.

As to the second question, yes, the game world will be open, of course, due to the abundance of mountains, some parts of it may prevent you from going in a straight path, but if it looks like you could reach some place, then you should be able to get there.
