best companion for survivalist?

My new character is all about living off the land and killing just about anyone I see, very fun... question is, is there a companion that specializes in survival? Who and where can be found? Thanks.

I do not think any companion specifically qualifies as "specializing in Survival," but Veronica is a useful one if you don't keep a permanent home by a workbench; she can craft workbench recipes anywhere.

Rex is a good "pet" companion because he helps you spot hidden goodies for saluaging and healing, but he gets into trouble a lot. I hear he's more durable since the patch, though.

Cass isnt bad if you're going to pump survival.

I believe her whiskey rose perk scales DT with survival. Not sure of the exact numbers, but at survival 50 I was getting +2 STR and +4 DT.

I paired the Whiskey Rose perk, with the Chemist perk and a low STR (3) character with high survival. Made great use of the STR buffs when he has to use heavier weapons. Before this I used to hate the survival skill and now I've been converted.

Cons are you have to stockpile alcohol.

ED-E really fits the role. Looks rough and tough, and since the latest patch, can really hold his own in combat. Plus his ridiculous carrying capacity is great!
