Why hardcoe Is Better Then Normal

Post » Sat Sep 18, 2010 1:42 am

I feel that hardcoe made new vegas not only worth buying, but if they fix the bugs and allow for game to be played after end, it'll easily be game of the year. hardcoe makes the courier have to eat, sleep, drink and all that fun stuff. It makes the game a true role playing game.

if you are hurting for caps vagabond, and dont wanna use cheats, then go to either vault 34, which i believe is the one with all the guns, but prepare for headache. but everything there is easily worth around 5,000 caps.

I agree with almost everything here, apart from the playing after the end bit. What don't you understand about "The End"? I for one am glad we can't play past the end and that there are no plans for a DLC to change that.

I find it very very boring to play after the main quest has finished, I had to struggle through Broken Steel, I only did because it was new content, but for me the story (and the game) finished with what I decided my character did in the water purifier.

Well done Obsidian for giving us a definitive ending (I presume, as I haven't got there yet) and please for the love of all that is holy don't go back on your word about any future DLC's.

P.S. I haven't encountered any big bugs yet (touches wood) apart from a few mutated ants and scorpions ;)

Didn't cause my game to crash. I've been all over Freeside.

You wouldn't be able to complete everything in one playthrough anyway.

Thanks for the info, went down there today and got killed multiple times by everything, didn't help that i was in shirt and shorts, but if what you say is right, soon i'll not only be playing at the roulette tables but sleeping there too!

easiest way to get money... raise luck to about 8 or 9. hit up casinos and play blackjack, place max bet. keep playing but play smart. get kicked outta all casinos. take your 50k of caps and invest.

Not yet, I'm 47 hours in and I've gotten as far as Camp McCarran. The only glitch I can recall is an ant got stuck in a bit of masonry and I couldn't shoot it
Spoiler
(this is on the clear the road/route side quest)
I moved on to the rest and by the time I'd finished them off it had freed its self and was attacking me.

Play the slots, until you get three oranges. The payout for that is 160:1. So, if you played the maximum bet of 200, you would receive 32,000 caps. That's for one casino. You can go into another one and do the same thing. I hit the jackpot in the Atomic Wrangler. Then I bought all the implants I wanted. I still had 10,000 caps left over.

I've been playing with hardcoe and while I like the changes to health/healing so far the eating, sleeping, and drinking has left me pretty unimpressed. To me it hasn't added extra RPG elements it's simply tacked on some simish tasks.

Admittedly Obsidian was unlikely to win me over with this - if the requirements are minimal it doesn't feel realistic but if they're substantial they're too much of an annoyance. On the other hand if I need to futs around with this at least they could make it a bit more realistic, despite several days of gameplay I've only needed to sleep a handful of hours. Eight hours of beauty sleep followed by a hearty breakfast may be unnecessary but why have a sleep requirement if it's so meager?

It seems to me that Obsidian would have been better having one requirement rather than three - with water probably being the most logical.

I'm hoping by the time I finish the main quest with this character I'll be able to pick up a mod that makes hardcoe more appealing. If not - well then I'll be thankful it's an option. :)

hardcoe mode? No thanks. I play for the adventure, for the story, and for the fun of making it do as I please. That's hard enough as it is, without all those unnecessary restrictions. hardcoe mode makes one micromanage stuff in inane ways. To me it feels like padding, or perhaps something just to get certain subgroups of the Fallout community to stop yammering on about how 'it's not a true RPG' long enough to play the game.

hardcoe is better beacause it's hardcoe!

hardcoe mode would of been even better though if you died permanently..... Kinda like Diablo's hardcoe... so it makes you really stay on your toes and itle feed the hunger of die hard RP fans

Just seeing hardcoe mode through to the end on the first playthrough. After that, good bye hardcoe mode. For me its just a pain in the ass that slows down the game, having to stop every five minutes to shove food or water down my characters throat. So yeah... for me hardcoe mode is simply "once and done".
