Melee Character

I am playing a melee character and have gotten to about Boulder City. So far melee has not been very fun. You just run up, swing it at them..... yea thats it. It just hasn't been fun. Does it get better later in the game, or should I restart now?

To each his own.. everyone has a different play style. I myself, personally play unarmed specialist. Let us know how your experience goes with melee

From what im seeing around is that Unarmed is the far better developed skillset, with learnable moves around the world.

I'm having a decent amount of fun...best weapon I have is the Rebar Club, with Chance's Knife as a backup. It's fun to time a power forward as an animal/raider is coming at you and cut his head off in one swoop...but it's getting a bit boring. There are just so many cool guns to use that it's hard to pass up. Also playing a game as a melee it is a requirement to level up unarmed extremely high too, so you don't really need to choose between them.

Just use the best one you have. And as far as special moves go...the ranger knockdown at least seems pretty useless. how often are you in a spot where you can backwards power attack and actually hit something?

Just tried a new character with melee a mixed bag at the start, but just got to level eight and took down a giant radscorpian with a sledge hammer ( Scorpian still had it's full dt though ) and no hits to me :toughninja:
I took the knock down perk a few seconds earlier, and it really paid off, so on the whole I think melee has improved a fair bit enough to make me love the style.

Do the "Come Fly With Me" sidequest and kill the mutant leader. He drops a Conan the Barbarian style sword that's pretty funny to use in VATS.

Don't forget the survival skill to make poison.
