The new sprint button makes me wonder... will we be able to vault over and preform various acrobatic moves over small obstacles (rocks, counters, and fences)? This seems like something they could add, it certainly would change up the gameplay. Also do you guys think that we will actually be able to break objects, contrary to Oblivion in which you would throw a pewter pot on the ground and nothing would happen.

What do you guys think? Would you support having the ability to vault and do acrobatic moves over obstacles (or under possibly), somewhat similar to a primitive brink.

As much as I love the idea of being able to perform acrobatics and I would love to be able to scale walls of buildings and free run on roofs (Like in Daggerfall) I don't think that we'll get much of that.. :sadvaultboy:

I agree with the above poster, it would be really cool, but I don't see it happening. I'd be happy with some extremely basic platforming, such as the jump button at least allowing you to grab onto lower ledges and pull yourself up, a la GTA IV and countless other games. As for destroying things, I think it's a good idea, I at least want to see damage when I hit something with a sword/spell/arrow.

Yes to what's already been said, and I would also warmly support climbing.

the old engine wasn't very friendly as far as player interaction with the world, other than walking around on top of it there wasn't really much else except activating triggers such as doors/chests/etc. i think with the new engine this sort of thing is definitely more plausible. it'd be nice to see some rudimentary climbing as the environment promises to be much more mountainous

Climbing, up to a certain point would be refreshing. but...EEeeekk. Breaking objects requires that each object have preset 'break lines' as in being pre programmed to break along certain lines ( and files for what the inside of the object looks like) ....or, we must have the most sophisticated darn physics chips ever. Like about 2000 times what Nassa uses....per second. Even if you could implement a system that had say, even 10 ways an object could break you couldn't universally apply it until you were creating every bit of the inside of the object. Almost every object in any game is only graphically dealt with on it's outer skin. There is no inside to them. Games that have destructible buildings use really basic physics still and not much actual breaking of the models involved. In 15 years we will be able to download for free what the VR inside of a tree branch is made of and incorporate that into our games, until then.......We throw the beer bottle off the bridge and it doesn't break when it hits the hobo's head. Atleast we have games where the hobo will sure as heck feel it!

It would be nice to actually e able to climb a mountian instead of doing the good ol' side jump on it repeatedly until you jump-float up it.

Imagine if Skyrim could borrow the stealth functionality and climbing, acrobatics, platforming, sword-play and hand2hand moves from Assassin Creed and Mirror's edge!!!

It would be great.

vindictus did it just fine.. just about everything breaks, and its not some massive strain on my system.

Id prefer an "Assassins Creed" style of platforming. Without the kung fu crap. But being able to jump and grab onto ledges or using objects to gain leverage from like running and jumping off walls or rocks would be cool.

For first I think about similar to Ultima Interactive World
then
I see different question, will Skyrim have free run feature like Assassin Creed have? Most like not devs too conservative, at last I hope on this type of climbing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WZdP83kxT-U with edge detection so need just jump close to obstacle and use forward key to overcome obstacles.
Thats is really simple to do and now when there is no acrobatic and jump slowfall and levitation such small feature will be really need, even hanging animation can be reusable for ladder climb so it will be kill two birds with one stone.

About objects breaking
Well I don't think to create breakable misc items they used for decoration better to have:
breakable doors as addition animation of open for door bash as alternative to unlock spell and lockpicks, if really need to break something let it be containers like box, chest, barrels and vases as well thats can work as part of lock bash and need just few simple animations, or be able to thrown it to enemies.
As something unusual there can be breakable ice plane activators to work as traps at frozen lakes and caves.

After playing DAO I would be happy to just be able to pick up a cup off the table. MW and OB really spoiled me on interactive worlds.

Indestructible cups? Well I guess it takes away some from the immersion, but I can live with it as I can only image what programing it would take to make everything in the world breakable.

Do you guys think that the moment in the trailer when the hero pauses at the edge of the cliff, waving his hands as if to catch his balance, could allude to the fact that we could have a free run button?

Well I hope thats was edge detection feature from havok behavior or at worst thats was specially modeled idle animations for trailer.
