Crosshairs

Post » Wed Oct 06, 2010 3:06 pm

This is mainly for those hardcoe players out there. So, would you like to have the option of turning off crosshairs?

This is what I prefer; Crosshairs off since I find them annoying in the middle of the screen. IMO this would compliment the bow system making it harder to aim but lethal once you hit, making the overall gameplay more rewarding OR having a crosshair come up once you begin the drawback but it will be very shaky at first and then get progressively steadier as you gain composure during the drawback. What are your thoughts/ideas?

I'll leave it up to you

Crosshairs were optional in Oblivion. And Skyrim's gameplay trailer has sequences without a crosshair. So, crosshairs will be optional again.

I enjoy the cross hairs. Makes it easier to pick up stuff. In fact,I wish fallout had shooter CH's when you pull your gun out.

Off. You get used to it and learn where the middle is.

Actually I would like an interface that has no bars or anything, it should either pop up when you need them (getting gravely injured, magic low) or other graphical attention grabbers(screen colours changing, blurring, shaking, sounds...).

Also wouldn't mind if movement where modelled on physics. If you want to turn all around or look behind you it will take a little effort. Nowadays the games lets you spinn like a whirlwind and twist as if you have no bones in your body.

Cheers!

This is confirmed...the health magicka and stamina bars are hidden whilst exploring but come up once one of them is reduced (due to combat/sprinting etc.)

The HUD will be non intrusive. Crosshairs should be a toggable option as well.

I would want crosshairs, actually not so much for bows as you know the aim point position relative to the arrow tip. However ranged spells get very hard and even something as picking up small items from get very frustrating without it.
3rd person in Oblivion / Morrowind was totally broken as they managed to use your head as crosshair if you tried to hit somebody 5 meters away you could not see the target because it has cover from your head, picking up items was just as challenging.

Things like magnetic targetting will make crosshairs mostly unnecessary, and projectile magics seem to have a fairly sizeable hitbox so it shouldn't be necessary there either.

For manipulating the environment in other ways, maybe, but the UI will hopefully be designed so that crosshairs aren't needed for that either.

I go with no crosshair. Not really that hard to aim. And it makes for better views when you look at the sunset without a crosshair disturbing in the middle :)

Don't like cross hairs, even with a bow. Distracts from the scenery.

I use swords. No need.
Unless I do want to pick up items.
The gamer in me is used to a HUD, but I think I will turn them off for this game.

I like to be most realistic. So if there is an option, I will have it set to OFF. Mainly because I would rather trust my gut when Sneak Attacking someone from Afar with a bow. It just adds a little more fun to the game in my opinion. :P

As others have said, I prefer them off but they should definitely be optional.

It'll certainly be fun trying to shoot dragons out of the sky without the help of crosshairs.

Perhaps a perk of Bows, at a certain level the perk shows a "crosshair" to allow for easier shots.

I hope there's an option to leave it on. I like having a HUD (strangely). I really don't get the whole fading HUD fad. I never found HUD's immersion breaking, which as a player who likes things fairly logical and immersive, is saying something.

what? hardcoe? I understand eating or sleeping, but finding the center of the screen is pretty easy unless you have that eye condition that makes your pupil move uncontrollably
