Your Character - Stats/Skills/Etc

Post » Tue Oct 12, 2010 1:11 pm

I decided to create this thread so everyone can share their character and how you allocated your stats to your play style so we can all learn and little bit of different things to try on the second, third, fourth, hell... maybe even in our fifth play though :celebration: . Also to show off your characters of course... who doesn't like showing off badass hero's / villian's / in-betweeners???

My first character is purely an unarmed specialist with a special gift of woo'ing the wasteland by talking through certain situations... if it can't be talked through, then it's knuckle sandwich time then i'll steal your valuables and prance on to the nearest merchant. I started off unarmed just for hardcoe so i wouldn't have to worry about ammo weight and which uber gun i was gonna use while i discover more and more along my journey plus i would of thought hardcoe + unarmed = super hardcoe, not really, since i find a crap load of stimpacks and food (Whats the point of survival skill lol?). Little did i know... upkeep on wep conditions would be minimal at best and there are no unarmed wep mods, so i would pretty much rack up caps like a pack rat, i guess ill spend it all on implants  .

Level 12: Vegas Crimelord
Play Time: 12.13.54

Wg: 220
HP: 315
DT: 22
Caps: 12,581

Strength: 7
Perception: 5 (+)
Endurance: 8
Charisma: 6
Intelligence: 8
Agility: 7

Main Skills Thus Far
Lockpick: 77 (+)

Unarmed: 80

Perks
Black Widow
Educated
Good Natured
Heavy Handed
Intense Training
Piercing Strike
Ranger Takedown
Spotter
Toughness (2)

My weapon of choice is the Power Fists and Spike Knuckles untill i can find something more badass. I have the the unarmed weapon where it's made of dog tags but it felt and looked dinky so i just keep it in my storage for collecting purposes. I'll post a picture of my character when i get around to snapping a photo :)

PS: I know someones going to ask why is luck at 1?? What about the crits?!?! First of all im not a sniper and crits for me at least, make the game not as challenging. Plus, when it comes to unarmed combat.. it's all about crippling every limb of your enemy then finishing them off with a power punch to the chest making them fly 10 feet or a skull crusher to the dome and making their heads fly 10 feet (Pick-up head, place on the bodies nuts, T-Bag). I would also, suggest for anyone looking to make a sniper build, just leave luck at 5 for crits.. it's a 50/50 chance to land a crit which is still imo fairly high chance and itle leave you room for the more useful stats like Int or Agi

EDIT: As promised... some pictures of my character! Not the best quality since i dont have a capture card for my 360.. used my camera :).

Okay so this character is doing really well so far. He has completed a large amount of side quests and is up to the quest involving the different tribes for Yes Man ( and yes I killed that one key character to make Yes Man the Top Man :P ). This character is overall a character with good karma, he has four companions so far ( ED-E, Boone, Lily, Rex ), has just started the quest lines for the NCR + Brotherhood. Is an enemy to the Boomers ( Killed their leaders! mwuahahahaha! ), Legion ( Killed Caesar! mwuahahahahahahah! ), and the Powder Gangers ( Stole their muffins! mwuahahahahahahahah! ).

As you can tell he's really good with ranged weaponry, but it's difficult to maintain a sufficient number of caps because I find my self running out of ammo + having to worry about the durability of my weapons quite often. Though I seem to always have ammo for my Incinerator.

Also, I spent a decent amount of time just exploring and gambling.

I always just max out charisma, intelligence and agility and put the rest into perception. I usually ignore strength, endurance and luck. I go for Guns, Sneak, Repair and Speech. Other skills are often barely raised, and once I get the aforementioned 4 up to 100, I sort of just throw points around randomly. I use the biggest, baddest rifle I can and fight my battles as a nimble and elusive sniper. I wear the lightest armor I can (clothing) for the best sneaking.

I die very easily, that is, if the enemy even has a chance to fire on me before I kill them. I talk my way out of situations whenever possible, but if I do get in a gunfight, I can rely on my absurd ability to get heavy-hitting headshots to carry me through battles. Headshot, headshot, headshot, the entire enemy gang is killed before they hit me once.

For anyone curious, this character and this playstyle got me through all the way to the end. I got the end credits in hardcoe/normal. Very fun.

Reading about characters is fun. ^^
Umm. Let's see, here's mine...

Skylar
Level 17
Play Time: 26.33.55
Definitely Not hardcoe (lol)
Female

http://i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd375/ApricotBunny/skylarstats.jpg I use a lot of appearance mods, obviously *cough*
Main Skills - Guns, Medicine, Speech, Sneak

Skylar mainly uses small guns, and I make her take out people from way far away. Actually... I rely a lot on Rex and Boone, since I don't think I'm very good at fighting, hah. :'P I see her as kind of a neutral person - she doesn't go around on murder sprees or anything, no matter how much of a jerk someone can be - buuut, caps are a good incentive for anything, even if she needs to do something kinda sorta wrong. Sky's with with Mr. House. :')

'Sir'? I'm a girl, haha. :3

Well, there's this console code called TGM... *cough* Just kidding.
Anyway lol. That's probably why I rely a lot on Boone and Rex! And since I'm playing on the PC, editing my carrying capacity was no biggie either. :)

Eh I'm not home to give a proper description but I'll do my best...

Name: Chucky (yes, it's a redhead Chuck Norris), I was level 22 last night dunno what I'll be when I get home since my fiance is all alone with fallout. And yes I recently found out that I do play hardcoe. It's really not what I expected however.

Stats.. Like I said I'm at work so I don't remember em, but I know I wasn't too happy about my strength and was looking to improve perception too. Most "passive" stats are pretty low, like int. The guy got shot in the head twice, for bollox's sake he's lucky he can still articulate words.

The skills, well I've concentrated on guns and sneak plus some survival. Yes, I'm one of those players who just loves sneaking&sniping. It's fun to sneak in a legion camp place a few C4 charges and sneak to an elevated position to see the fireworks, finishing off whatever still has limbs with the nice AM rifle (which is nearly broke dammit) or a sniper rifle. I use Cass cause I love her comments, and she's pretty decent with a cowboy repeater taking out what gets close enough to me, and E-DE for her long range sensors, but I don't know how long I'll be able to put up with her crappy laser and that music she keeps playing when a fight starts...

I can't give you guys exact stats, since I've deleted all 3 of my characters entirely after finishing the main quest in order to make room for a new one.

My first character I didn't put a lot of thought into. I put one point in each SPECIAL except for luck and charisma and quickly maxed out my guns, sneak, and survival skills. I pretty much rushed through the beginning of the main quest up until I found Benny. After that I did a few side missions mostly sticking in the Vegas area. I acted and reacted the ways I would if it were reality. In the end I took Vegas for myself since I didn't think any of the 3 big factions were really fit to control it. I played on this character for around 25 hours before I deleted him. Mostly he took perks that helped him with surviving. Faster unholstering of weapons, faster reloading, etc...

My second I kept my special the same as the first. Once again I quickly maxed out my guns. But instead of sneak and survival I maxed out repair and medicine. Typical run of the mill good guy, helping out whenever he can no matter the personal cost and sided with NCR. Played for about 35 hours before I deleted him.

My recent character, who I just deleted around 10 minutes ago, had a SPECIAL of 5, 7, 4, 7, 7, 5, 5. This was my scientific, silver tongued, energy weapons guy (who was also gay, since I wanted to see how the confirmed bachelor perk changed the game). I didn't make it as far this time around only managing to max out my speach and science skill, but getting my energy weapons to around 60. He sided with Mr. House, having a thing for technology and somewhat attracted to the "mysterious man in the tower." He took perks that helped him understand the stuff he was reading, helped him make more efficient use of the technological marvels he used to defend himself when neccesary, and to use his words to assist him. I intended to go even slower this time around, but found energy weapons boring and not varied enough so pretty much rushed the main story line. I deleted him after 15 hours of gameplay. That 100 speach skill really let me cut a LOT of corners.

Tomorrow after work I plan on making a character capable of doing all the things that a Frumentarii of Caesar's Legion would do, and, obviously, siding with the Legion. Originally my Legion character was going to be a min intelligence character who used melee weapons to smash whatever was in front of him, but after reading that Vulpes Inculta gives you missions to do quests simmilar to what the dark brotherhood in oblivion, I decided on making a more assassin like character. I plan on having above average intelligence, perception, charisma, and agility. Maxing out my guns, sneak, and maybe my speach this time around. I'm open to suggestions about what exactly to do with my SPECIAL, skills, and perks for this run though.

EDIT: Thought I'd also mention that on my first playthrough I ditched my Classic Pack preorder bonus and played on casual, second character was hardcoe and ditched the vault 13 canteen to make it harder, and 3rd was hardcoe and kept the canteen. I think I will only ever play on hardcoe from here on out and will probably keep the canteen too.

Also, just had an idea. Perhaps for my 4th character I should ditch speach and max lockpick instead. Anyone else think I should?

My character is doing fairly well, so far. He's picked up Veronica as a companion and given her T-45d Power Armor and Helmet. Right now, I have him doing mostly NCR and BoS related quests. The current quest going is "No, Not Much" for the NCR. Once the freezing/lock-up issue is resolved, I will jump back in to the game and take on the Legion and the Families on the Strip.

His standard weapon is the 10mm Pistol with the Extended Mags and Silencer mods. Most common secondary weapons are the Brush Gun (limited ammo), Sniper Rifle with the Carbon Fiber Parts mod, Trail Carbine with the Scope mod, Hunting Shotgun with the Long Tube mod. When heavy firepower is needed, Veronica is toting almost fully repaired Missile Launcher, Gauss Rifle and Tri-Beam Laser Rifle.

that's awsome. I do the same thing I do in all fallout games. I make my toon look exactly like john wayne and make finding a collection of cowboy hats top priority. I start the game nice and friendly, but as soon as I have enough ammo, caps, and weapons I decimate the entire population of the game. The last people to fall are usually my favorite vendors, because in the end I have to sell my loot somewhere.

For some reason I always hold on to teddy bears and garden gnomes, alongside all the rare weapons I have in my hideout. I like to throw teddy bears and guns all over the place.

You do realize you need strength to use weapons right?? I would say a bare minimum of 5 strength... 4 if your planning on using small pistols the whole game.
