hey all. just a question about earning achievements. can i still earn steam achievements if my steam client is in offline mode? thanks.

I don't think so, but I'm not 100% sure.

Nope. I actually do sign on to Steam while connected to the internet, but achievements only register if you're signed in to the Steam Community, so because I have it set to not sign in automatically, I never earned any of the achievements despite completing them. I find it ridiculous that even if I'm in online mode, I can't earn achievements unless I sign into my friends list. Sometimes I just, oh, I don't know, want to play the game without talking to anyone, yet Steam thinks I should be ashamed of myself for wanting privacy and removes the ability to earn achievements as punishment.

If I cared about achievements all that much I would be much more pissed off than I already am, which is still a fair amount.

Are you sure that it's something to do with Friend's List? Because even though I've been completely signed in, I haven't been getting all the achievements I should be getting.
